Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Family of 4 with two teens - we spent 2 hours searching for small chips of garnets including small stone sized pieces. We got a small ziplock bag with loads of chips and 8 x grade quality stones. Definitely recommend it if u have the time and patience for this. Not recommended for younger children as its very time consuming and u need to concentrate. But we really enjoyed it!!!

Having never done anything like this before, my best friend and I really enjoyed 2 hours 'fossicking' i.e. looking for garnets. We paid our fee for a bucket of what looked like gravel, and were shown how to sieve and clean the 'dirt' and what exactly we were looking for: raw, uncut garnet gem stones which otherwise to all intents and purposes look like black bits of rough rock. Included in the fee was all garnets that we found.
We enjoyed this really satisfying, fun activity in the sunshine on the shop verandah, and coined the phrase 'fossick & gossip' as we sat and chatted for up to 2 hours whilst searching for garnets. Having searched the entire bucket, we came away with 8 really large ones of different clarity and a small bag each of small flecks of garnet.
There is the opportunity to have your garnets professionally cut and made into earrings or other jewellery by the jeweller as well.
