Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have played both Capricorn resort golf courses back in their hay-day and they were both excellent. Now the resort itself is closed there is just this one Championship Course that is all that remains open.
The clubhouse is fairly run-down and just the pro-shop area is open. The front gates are locked closed until 9am sharp, so don't bother to arrive early (as we did).
Pro-shop staff are friendly and do what they can under the circumstances. There is no food except for snacks (like packets of chips etc.), though they sell drinks and alcohol to take on course (will give you esky and ice if need).
The course (fairways and greens) is in very good condition given that there are apparently only two (2) green keepers to maintain the whole course. It is hard to fathom how just the two of them can keep it as good as what it was. The greens were cut a bit longer than I'm used to and were slow, though ran true and even and took spin from approach shots.
The cart paths (some pot holes) and off-fairway garden beds have been let go (I expect in favour of looking after fairways and greens). Also the bunkers are not kept too well (though with Covid restrictions preventing rakes etc. this could be the reason). I didn't get in any bunkers :)
The toilet blocks on the way around were not kept clean either, but that didn't bother us, as we were more interested in the course. The drinking water at these toilet blocks was out of a side wall tap and suspect it was ground/bore water (nice enough though).
We got there are 9am on a Thursday and there were only a handful of people looking to play then. Once out on the course we hardly saw anyone else on the course.
My friend had rung and booked us in a week or two before our trip and it only cost us $40 each with a shared cart for the 18 holes. That was great value for a course still in very good nick. I suspect you could just turn up on the day and get that same price, but may pay to ring and make sure.
All in all, though not as good as in its hay-day, it is still a very good course and at $40 with shared cart it is great value.
We played from the back championship Black tees and that adds a definite extra challenge to an already challenging par 72 course layout.

Course is in good condition. Very reasonable priced at $40 including cart. We just turned up and basically had the whole course to ourselves. Great for my newbie partner as there is no pressure from behind.

I saw this course reviewed and had a real struggle to find out if it was actually open. Really glad I made the effort though, as the course is in excellent condition and just as challenging as in its heyday. The resort itself, as well as the resort course, have closed down and only the championship course remains. Keep going through the old resort, and don’t give up - it is there, and well worth the $40 including buggy!

This course is open to the public at a very resonable prices and still has all the charm of a Championship course without the hassles of too many players.
Greens are huge and holes are difficult and long but playable for anyone with a GA Handicap

A sublime track out in the middle of nowhere. The Capricorn Resort has been closed for a couple of years, but the championship course is in great shape. Besides being long, it is very interesting, and the greens roll perfectly. Along the way, we saw kangaroos, goannas, and interesting birds. A total hidden gem in my view.

We stayed here back in July 2016, to escape a big rain 'low' as we had been camping.
We found the resort to be very good, though a little dated, but all the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Good layout. Interesting holes with water in play on a few and serious rough if you stray too far from the fairways. Carts mandatory. Only one course is operating - the second course is closed due to lack of money/patronage/tourists/whatever. I got the feeling that the clubhouse, pro shop might be on a very tight budget as well. Course is well maintained, greens are firms do true. It will be unfortunate if it closes but looking at what has happened at the Capricorn Resort, the future does not look good. Play it while you can.
