Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Situated at the information center. A gold coin donation has you enter the world of shells. An amazing collection large and the tiniest shells imaginable. So many I hadn’t seen before. Well worth a visit.

I was amazed by the collection. It was laid out well and was very interesting. The volunteers are very friendly. I was happy to give a gold coin donation and bought a shell as a souvenir.

A most impressive collection of shells on display for a gold coin donation. The volunteer we met was lovely and was happy to spend time talking to our girls. More than happy to support a local group of shell enthusiasts!

Humanity is always fascinated by shells... as a small child I recall picking them up and being fascinated by their shapes and colours along the beach in Seaspray in Victoria... beautiful fans, or pink/purple shades. I looked through my mother's friends elaborate shell collections in Golden Beach that they had collected from around the world... and always whenever I stopped at beaches I stopped to look at the shells that had gathered along them.

But it's pretty macabre in hindsight... these shells represent the death of a sea creature... it's like stopping to look at cemeteries... something I also do on regular occasion. Remembering the dead is something I have always done.

The shell museum incorporates shells from all over the world and the individuals working there are passionate about their interest. They even warn you of a disease called Shell Pox. :)

Should you be worried? Shell pox is a continual complaint as to the need for fresh air, sunshine and relaxation. The victim of shell pox will have a blank expression and be inattentive to family. They will have no taste for work. They will frequently be searching for shells. But fortunately there is a cure ... whilst medication is useless and the disease is not fatal...they will need to go shell hunting as often as possible. :)

Shell World will let you in with a gold coin donation at the door and it is located at the Visitor Information Centre. It's a nice way to spend a bit of time.

What a little gem. Stopped to pick up some maps and brochures and visit the shell museum. Staff are very knowledgeable. Kids enjoyed asking questions and being able to feel the shells. The displays are well maintained and you can pick up some nice gifts there as well.

Amazing shell collection sourced from all over the world. The Centre is manned by passionate volunteers who are only too happy to provide the visitor with information about the exhibits.
Definitely worth more than a gold coin donation to visit this wonderful collection of shells and related exhibits.

Gorgeous collection of shells from all over the world, all seen for a gold coin donation. Kids loved seeing the different varieties on offer, as well as specimens of various marine life. We were able to identify the shells we had and were amazed by the variety. Well worth the stop, easy to spend 10 minutes to an hour perusing depending on your interest. Highly recommended.
