So very interesting!
Sep. 2021
We were very glad to be able to be this far north in Australia and this tour was worth taking. Christine drove our very clean and air-conditioned bus well, and kept us well informed. Although I am more interested in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural learning, I did find the focus on the fort and military museum very interesting. Christine also did share respectful and helpful information about Indigenous history, culture and language in the area. We could have easily had a longer tour and a longer time at the cemetery. By the time we walked down from the bus to use the public loo, we only had 5 minutes really to check out the cemetery which really is worth visiting. I recommend extending the tour by 15 minutes for cemetery and a bit more of a driver around the island.

A tour to take.
Jun. 2021
9 am sharp departure from Seisia on the way to Thursday Island. Lovely morning cruising through the Isles to the Island. Boarded the bus and off we go!. Past the Cemetary where many Japanese Pearl divers are interred with traditional inscriptions, then the Islander graves with the story of the occupant's life and a display of artificial flowers(quite colourful). Then up to the Fort with spectacular views either way. the fort had a very large artillery gun aimed at protecting Aus from the Russians(Crimean war). Plus a history lesson through thetwonship.

Ferry ride and tour
Jun. 2021 • Couples
The ferry ride was as expected. Smooth sailing and the coffees were delicious. Our tour of the island was very well presented by our guide. Had some very tasty chips at the Top Pub on town. Thought there may have been some markets for the tourists but unfortunately there were none. Great day.

A very professional tour company

Christine from Peddels is an excellent guide, unfortunately the day we were with her we had to rush and so couldn't enjoy a longer tour. She really knows everything about TI! Highly recommend her.

Peddells is a very professional ferry service and tour operator. Stayed overnight at TI and love it, such a beautiful place with such lovely people. Infrastructure here also impressive. Enjoyed bus tour with Sue from Peddells. Tour bus was new and immaculate. Don't want to leave!

Thank you for your feedback., it is important to us. Being a family owned and operated business, Peddells aims to provide excellent services for visitors and locals. Local legend says that if you eat the fruit of the Wongai Tree you are destined to return tot the islands.

Reliable service
Aug. 2020
We travelled from Seisia to Thursday island and return and the ferry was a great way to get to our destination. The ferry was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the hour journey over through the islands. Both departures were right on time and leaving early morning we had a beautiful sunrise.

Reliable and helpful
Sep. 2019
We used PEDDELLS Tours on TI. Their bus tour of the the Island was informative and interesting. We also travelled with them to Seisia to join the MV Trinity Bay for the trip to Cairns. Peddells are a reliable family owned company that you can depend on for getting around TI and the TSI.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback, your reviews are important to us. Fun Fact: With a background in the pearl shell export trade and boat building industry, in 1980 Peddells recognized the growing demand from residents and visitors for a ferry service linking Thursday Island with Cape York communities. Horn Island/Thursday Island Ferry
Sep. 2019
I used this ferry service to travel to Thursday Island from Horn island and return. Although the service is not cheap, it is reliable and runs fairly well to timetable. The 15 minutes trip gives you a great perspective of Thursday Island. The staff were friendly and respectful. Thee was plenty of room inside or outside. Plastic chairs outside and long padded benches inside. Its the only way to travel between the island if you don't have your own boat

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Peddells Ferry Service operates between Seisia (mainland Australia) and Thursday Island. The journey is approximately 1hour 10 minutes. The cost of passage for a full paying adult(no concessions) is $60.00* oneway (correct at time of printing) Essau (thank you)

Thursday Island tour
Sep. 2019
I went on the tour on my own and it was for about 1.5 hours. The guide was very knowledgeable. It was great listening to her tell us the history of the places we stopped at and additional information of the Island. I enjoyed Green Hill and the Fort museum there. I would have like the trip to be a little longer so as to spend more time at some of the highlights. Maybe 2 to 2.5 hours long.
I highly recommend this tour. The bus is air conditioned and very comfortable. I will go again when I am back up north.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, your feedback is important to us. Hours could be spent in the Green Hill Fort Museum, however we have to limit the time due to connecting tours/ferry departures. We hope to see you on your next visit up North Essau (Thank you)
