Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rosie Ware has rare talents - a gifted artist / designer from the Torres Straits who also has a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit. We first saw some of her works on sale in the art gallery on Thursday Island, the Gab Titui. Her T-shirts were easily the best local designs we saw. Rosie does have a studio on Thursday Island which I understand is a bit out of the way for tourists but she spoke to our tour guide and hastily arranged to set up a small stall in the park opposite our motel. And I'm pleased to say she had a very busy afternoon!

It was a delight to meet Rosie and look through her little shop. Her work is wonderful and she was most friendly and helpful. Rosie produces real Torres Strait artistic work and is to be commended for her talent and enthusiasm. She even offers a service where she will collect you from down town TI and drive you up to her house!

It was just lovely (after a steep walk up the Hargreaves Street Hill) to enter Rosie’s studio. Each cabinet had something very lovely to look at, and attached to each item was a part of Rosie’s story and her exquisite craftswomanship. I bought some very lovely placemats and a tea towel. Rosie was gracious in sharing her story and what the symbolism of the items were. Absolutely worth a visit!

We visited Thursday Island as one of the ports of call on a Viking Cruise. When we disembarked from our tenders, there were several vendors awaiting us at the pier, among them Rosie Ware herself. She has a great selection of her textiles, including smaller things like scarves and larger items like tablecloths. Her art is to use block printing to make designs on fabric, and there were a number of different styles to choose from. She also had magnets, stationery, and other smaller things that had some of her designs on them. Rosie herself was delightful and friendly, and I appreciated being able to buy something unusual and that was straight from the source. While I would love to have seen her shop, it was actually a blessing on this very hot day to have her right at the pier. If you want to see an artist in person, don't miss Rosie Ware!

Rosie has done us all a favour by opening her studio for us to share her beautiful work. Stunning fabric designs and jewellery on offer, topped off with the opportunity of a magnificent view over TI. This and her beautiful personality make it a must do item when visiting the island
