About
Holoverse is the worlds first Hologram entertainment centre situated in Southport. We have an exciting range of hologram experiences to pick from: you can pet a lion, fly through the sky, fight alien monsters , swim in holographic water, jump on the moon and much more! We also offer hologram table games, these tables make objects out of light that float in the air around you. The objects look solid, but when you try to touch them, your hand goes right through! And the best thing is that you can challenge a friend and play these games together! Holoverse is open every Saturday and Sunday. And 7 days a week during the QLD school holidays. Second location now open! Holoverse Dinosaur World is the worlds first Holographic Dinosaur Adventure park, situated in Surfers Paradise. We offer private Hologram Theatres for groups of up to 5 to participate in a session. In each session you do ten different experiences like feeding a Brontosaurus, flying with Pterodactyls, or going under water.

First off it is actually worth the trip. Most of the staff a great and the experience of being in the 3d was a lot of fun. Yes the graphics are Minecraft like but ignore that...go and do it!
The let down was near the end of the session my graphics glitched out and all I had was sound and a white screen. No problem; I followed instructions given and stepped out of the room to wait for help. By the time some one showed up the session had ended and when I tried to explain what happened I got fobbed with "it probably was the end" It wasn't and when I tried to press further I was told to go and talk to the person at the counter and the guy promptly disappeared. Sorry mate, when a customer has a issue;Take charge and sort it, learn some customer relations. Don't pass the buck.
So to guys who served us at the counter and kitted us up you were great, top stuff. As for the other one...you let the side down. Guys you need a better response time for those who have a problem.

I went to Holoverse having recently listened to a number of podcasts which described the advances currently being made in virtual reality technology with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, which sounds incredible. So using this as a reference point I visited the Holoverse with my wife a couple of weeks ago.
We were quite underwhelmed. My wife said that she could barely see her glasses were so blurry, and couldn't find an attendant to help her out. My glasses were ok, and I was able to view the images. The whole thing was ok, interesting to a point, but seemed very rudimentary compared to what is clearly on the horizon with VR. My wife made the comment that she has been more impressed by some of the TVs on display at Harvey Norman than she had been by Holoverse. I couldn't disagree.
I walked out of the place thinking "Wow they've really wasted some money on this technology, I hope they've got a Plan B". I believe it may have been partially government funded as well, typical use of taxpayers money. This concept needs a LOT of improvement & will be destroyed by VR if they don't make some radical improvements. I would only recommend for young kids who are easily impressed.

I'm going to give a very detailed review to save all the money I wish I didn't lose. The graphics were worse than terrible for $34, or even $27 for the birthday package is ridiculous. This is compared to my google cardboard box experience.
I did the experience version- where u see 8 random sceneries without much screen interactions.
The visuals lack depth and certainly clarity. The bottom 1/4 of your visual field the will always be very blurred like a linear messy bokeh effect and it really bugged me. Yes they told me it's normal. Because of the immaturity of the visuals, it is impossible to be immersed and even harder for me to take this seriously.
There was absolutely zero wow factors. There was an aquarium scene that clearly demonstrated their limits. There was so much potential but there was no projection of any fish out of the screen in any holographic effect - it was no different from standing through plastic and having the fish swim behind the barrier.
This may be okay for 3 year olds but I had my 21st there and brought so many friends to pay for this ridiculous price and I feel so ashamed of my decisions and I doubt they'd trust my choices again - so I'm determined to make sure someone else doesn't feel the same - look $25 gets you to fright night with the conjuring theme that's a much better thrill.
So what am I comparing my experience with? I have a pair of
google cardboard glass that cost less than $5 to order online for and I watch virtual reality concerts with visuals I couldn't believe at first- with visual depths on par with Samsung gear but only slightly lacking in clarity.
And I'm extremely extremely upset by holoverse's false marketing.
They have lovely staff who have been extremely accommodating and I think the girls deserve an applause for that and putting in good words about these experiences despite knowing how bad it is. No I'm not being sarcastic the staff there is awesome.
I'm extremely upset by my experience. Don't come here until they finish the project - which judging by their current standards needs like 8 more years of rewriting.

Went to holoverse as we had some time to kill before we went to the escape hunt a few blocks over. Service was friendly. We chose the recommended Experience one with the multiple different themes and also the Video Game one. In comparison to a PlayStation VR the graphics were very outdated. It was extremely glitchy and slow when you moved your head. The interaction was minimal and it became quite boring. Enjoyed that you could earn points to trade for small prizes, kept it a bit more entertaining. Kids and people who aren't heaps into technology etc would probably really enjoy this experience as it's something different and unusual but as two childless adults in their 20s it wasnt for us and felt quite expensive.

It's marketed at superior to VR but its literally worse than Google cardboard. The resolution is so terrible and the motion tracking is terrible!
Compared to VR this technology is horrible.
If you are looking for a good virtual experience do not go here.
The reason the reviews are good in general is because they are from families and kids like it, but kids are easily amused.
If you are an adult please don't waist your money.

Celebrated my birthday hoping to have an exciting family experience. Our online booking 5days before we arrived, gave us great discounts, but the venue didn't receive the booking. We had to wait for the next free session.
We had a 6 person booking, 2 half hour sessions back to back.
We all had trouble calibrating the goggles & wand - so we lost time trying to get tech help. 2 of our party reported the lining up of goggles (which controlled precision of target) was out of alignment, so the fighting sequences didn't work. I had trouble with hologram glasses not sitting properly under headphones, which I had to keep adjusting, this affected the line of vision and the accuracy of target line up.
The instruction demo made it sound spectacular but none of us found it as high tech, as they claimed.
Probably suitable for 6-12 year olds.
This holoverse tech does not hold up to the quality of home theatre PS or Xbox digital imagery your probably used to. Maybe in another 10 years it will catch up.
The prizes for points scored were fluffy toys- aimed at 6-12 yr olds
2/10 fail for adult/ teenage entertainment. $240(discounted price) for 6 people for less than 1 hour actual play time.

Hi Julie, thanks for leaving a review. I can obviously understand your frustrations as it sounds like a lot went wrong during your visit. I'm very sorry to hear your expectations were not met. I am going to look into this as soon as possible. It sounds like particularly unusual circumstances and we would loathe for you to feel that you have been treated unfairly - especially on your birthday. If you could please contact us at info@holoverse.com.au we will be able to discuss your visit, the problems you had, and to investigate if there is any way to achieve restitution. Thank you, Jay

Being forced to wait 20 minutes before we could go in, fixed session times ( I guess they are trying to emulate the movies? ) however the place was empty. By the time we actually got into the "experience" we had been waiting close to 30 mins. Movie around is jerky and stutters. Parts are very laggy which makes you want to vomit, they definitely need to improve the technology, my xbox renders 10x smoother. Then you get to the actual content itself, cringe overload I suppose the eccentric creator wrote the script but it was beyond lame, hug a statue because you stole his treasure? The whole thing is disjointed, its so bad that I am having trouble expressing how bad it is, In fact its so bad you have to go try it out, if they dont get more professional content I fear they wont last long.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for your feedback. By the sound of your review there may have been problems with the operation of your Hologram Room. Because our hologram rooms use very high-tech equipment, this can occasionally happen. The staff members at Holoverse will always instruct the correct procedures in case of anything that visitors are unsure about - if your issues were made known then I am sure our staff would have been able to assist you.
In regards to the content, we understand that not everybody enjoys the same things. Most people who visit Holoverse do quite enjoy themselves and leave with a smile on their face - we hope that your next visit will be more enjoyable for you.

Went in to try the new hologram games tables. The lovely lady behind the counter offered us a free demo before we paid any money.
The tables are a great idea but the current layout isn't very well thought out. None of the games have any instructions, instead you MUST (as a voice reminds you) watch a video on how to play. The videos are on the outside of the booth, and you don't learn about these videos until you're already inside. Very awkward system.
After we watched some of the videos, we decided none of the games were worth paying for. The games look to be less about fun and more about showing off the 3D capabilities of the table.
Would love to see more classic arcade style titles available. Wouldn't go back to play just yet.

Please don't be sucked in by the marketing - the idea of standing in a closet, pointing a laser wand at an holographic planetary image to collect points verges on the banal. Yes, the young staff were eager and helpful but that does little to assuage the feeling this is a tourist ripoff. Besides, Occulus Rift can offer a far more satisfying experience....

Written 12 April 2017
Prices vary. I suggest you try groupon or living social or other deals around. They are cheaper than going through the actual centre. At the centre $34 for half an hour or a shorter version for $20 or two half hour sessions for $56.
