Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We often visit the Ipswich Art Gallery during the Dec/Jan school holidays as they have fantastic exhibitions for children. But Tapescape would have to be the best exhibition yet! My daughter absolutely loved it! Very reasonably priced too at only $20 for a family of four or $7 each. We spent four hours in total as we got a pass-out so we could leave and come back. The air-conditioning was very welcome on such a hot and humid day. The construction zone with all the foam building blocks was also a winner. The staff were very helpful, informative and welcoming. We had the best day and would highly recommend.

We went to the gallery to check out the TapeScape exhibition and we were not disappointed. It was a stunning exhibition and not only was that the only amazing exhibition and activity but there was also a foam construction room which my 3 and 7 year old children spent hours enjoying. There were so many STEM related activities and for a budding enginneer or artist or anyone this is a must place to see especially for children.

To top this experience off, the entry to the museum is only $7 ($3 for socks for the TapeScape exhibit is extra but you can bring your own socks) and the staff were so friendly and informative. I would like to make a shout out especially to Monica who answered a lot of my questions about TapeScape and she took a genuine interest with our family and made us feel at home despite visiting all the way from Canberra!

Thank you!

What a gem of an art gallery, for me it’s just the right size, big enough to spend an hour or so, not so big that you can’t see everything. Loved the Arthur Boyd exhibition, well worth the drive from Brisbane

Been here every time they change the activities for the kids (about 9 times in the last 3 years) - great activities that are super entertaining for adults too!
Really good to check out the changing exhibitions in the gallery too. Found out both me and my 4yr old are Authur Boyd fans!

I was looking for inspiring art from LOCALS and not much to see. The "art" on display was really medico to poor. the plane needs a good person with flair to show off the place and the paintings. I'v been twice.. First and Last....

Thanks for visiting. We are saddened to hear you did not enjoy your visit. We have a regularly changing program for our visitors so we hope in future there will be shows that appeal to you. Currently we have A Private Collection which showcases a range of art from a private collector that has a focus on SEQ artists and work on until 5 June.

Every time my brother and his family come to visit from interstate, they nag us go to the Art Gallery. The whole family get into the activities whether it be Lego, emergency service exhibitions, wind tunnels, building with huge foam blocks, etc The best thing about it for us is free family fun and we can also leave the kids (including big kids) to view the travelling exhibitions. The building itself is quite beautiful for those who enjoy architecture. A great place to escape because it's air conditioned!
Even better, there is a new cafe that has opened up near the front door (Laneway 116) which now means we can grab a coffee or lunch when we have finished.

What a fun morning for my grandson. Activities were interactive and challenging. The tape tunnel was extremely well thought out and constructed. So many places to explore. Pity it’s closing soon but get there if you can.

second visit to gallery and love their clever use of space and the friendly helpful staff.
1st visit last year was the Arthur BOYD exhibition
2nd visit today was the construction exhibition
Both thoroughly enjoyable and worth the short trip from Brisbane
apparently the secret as to what on and coming up is to look their web page up monthly or hook up on Facebook
We will definitely be back

The gallery is a good example of how a gracious heritage building, constructed originally as the School of Arts back in the 1860s, can be adapted for a modern purpose. The collection is small but worthwhile and the staff welcoming and helpful.
