We are Brisbane’s closest hot air ballooning company. Simply drive 30 minutes west of the Brisbane CBD to experience a 1 hour city and country hot air balloons flight. Passengers enjoy superb & glorious views whilst floating majestically & effortlessly over the heritage city of Ipswich, the Scenic Rim & Somerset countrysides. Going on a balloon flight was something that my wife has been hinting at for sometime, however, being a mere male, I didn't pick up on the subtle hints, until one day we were discussing what she would like for our upcoming anniversary and she said how about a balloon flight. What a great idea I thought, should have mentioned it earlier.
I had heard of Floating Images from friends, so I looked them up.
Ruth was the first member of Floating Images that I met with, to make the booking and I can tell you that she was friendly, knowledgeable and most helpful in this process.
On the morning of our flight, we met Graham our pilot and his ground crew, equally friendly and knowledgeable while they carried out the necessary Covid testing prior to embarking to travel to the launch site.
Upon arriving, Graham gathered everyone around and explained very clearly what was going to happen, where we should and should not stand during the inflation process. I think everyone was excited to be include in a hands on way in this process.
In no time at all we were up, up and away. How exhilarating it was to see everything on the ground getting smaller and smaller as we rose up into the cool morning air. Graham was a font of ballooning knowledge and there were no questions from all on board that he could not answer to everyone's full understanding. He pointed out many sites of interest, some accompanied with a brief interesting story.
But all too soon we found ourselves descending into a paddock where the ground crew were waiting. Once again everyone was hands on during the deflation and packing away process.
It was all on board and back to Ipswich for a magnificent and well earned breakfast.
I would highly recommend Floating Images to anyone interested in this activity, the staff from Floating Images were friendly and professional from booking to breakfast.

I've been wanting to try Hot Air Ballooning for several years and was fortunate to have everything line up to make it possible. It was a great experience, spectacular views, educational and relaxing. The family owned business was especially lovely having Grahame's twin children there to assist and learning of how the business has grown over the last 20 years. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to try it. There were two things that stood out for me on this perfect day. Firstly, the subtle, gentle lift off while watching the ground fade away and noticing the buildings become smaller and smaller. Secondly, touching down in a field between two properties on a gorgeous little farm and meeting a surprised and overjoyed new 'landing location' property owner. After the initial meet and greet, it was followed by us assisting in folding up the HUGE balloon into a large bag with precision and ease guided by the experienced crew. For anyone who has ever had difficulty packing a sleeping bag or tent into a bag, I recommend learning this technique hehe. I now have the bug for Ballooning thanks to this lovely experience. This experience was amazing, we were up early and inflating the balloon as the sun came up. After a few bursts of the burners the balloon lifted and we were told to climb in. A few more bursts and off we went. Graeme and the team are professional in what they do and even apprehensive guests soon forgot their concerns.
The views were amazing, shadows stretching across the landscape. A big sorry to all the dogs that don't like balloons!, kangaroos scattering and folks pulling over in the car to take a look, you see it all.
Finally a vista with Wivenhoe as the backdrop before soft landing. Deflate and roll up the balloon then off to breakfast at the Fourth Child restaurant, we were hungry by then and they didn't disappoint, what a great start to the day. Thanks again to all the team.

Up early on a cold winter’s morning to join five other passengers at Ipswich Information Centre. From here we were transported to a large field In Leichhardt to watch our balloon being inflated ready for our adventure. By the time it was filled the sun was peaking over the horizon and we climbed into the basket which had a division in the middle. The basket felt strong and quite capable of carrying us up into the sky. We spaced ourselves evenly and everyone had a great view, no scrambling for front row necessary!!
Up and up we went, slowly floating over Ipswich city then out towards Marburg and finally Pine Mt. where we landed in a farmers paddock. The scenery was spectacular as there was quite a lot of mist coming up from the Brisbane river and we could see Brisbane city’s high rise buildings emerging from the layers of mist as if it was coming out of a sea of white-capped waves, the Swanbank Power station with its plume of steam, Flinders Peak and the Toowoomba range and the whole Scenic Rim.
We felt quite safe with our experienced pilot Graeme and were happy to be able to help fold the voluminous balloon material back into its container and watch while it was loaded onto the support vehicle.
After picking up our car we followed Graeme to the Fourth Child restaurant in Ipswich where we were treated to a delicious breakfast of anything from the menu accompanied by champagne, orange juice and coffee.
All in all a wonderful experience with many many memories and fabulous photos.

We thoroughly enjoyed flying with Graeme and his crew. My partner is not so keen on heights, with Graeme’s expertise he was relaxed, comfortable and keen to go ballooning again.
The ballooning was peaceful, like floating up in the clouds. I recommend getting out to Ipswich having a look around and hot air ballooning with Floating Images.

From initial contact, Floating Images provided a fantastic service. Graeme, Ruth and the rest of the family all ensured that everyone had a fantastic experience. The scenery was breathtaking, the commentary offered by Graeme when up in the air was informative. We all felt completely safe at all times. Could not recommend Floating Images more. Well done!

My wife and I had a wonderful morning floating above the Ipswich and Haigslea area. Graeme is a very experienced and professional pilot with a great ground crew assisting him. We felt comfortable and safe the entire time. The ballooning experience was amazing and we would highly recommend it to anyone. Graeme joined us for breakfast afterwards. It makes the experience extra special when the owner and operator is passionate about what he does and you know he is running the tours because he loves ballooning. He treats his guests with courtesy and respect and the appropriate amount of humour.

Awesome experience being able to float over Ipswich having landmarks pointed out by Graeme and their relevance and history explained. Seeing the land from above gives a great perspective of how dry it is currently.
Being an active part of inflating and deflating the balloon and packing the balloon away makes it an even more enjoyable time. Heaps better than just watching.

Love love love this! So much fun. I've not done hot air ballooning before, but I will be adding this to my list of things to book when planning my next holiday. It was such a great experience, from how the balloon is blown up, to take off and 'steering' of the balloon and then the logistics to land! Breakfast afterwards was amazing as well. Loved it all. Plus the Pilot (Graeme) was hilarious and made this adventure even more special. His stories and knowledge of the industry and also of the views we were seeing was first rate. Definitely would do this again. Just book it now, you wont regret it! :D -Emily

Graeme and his team were great! We were made comfortable though continued information of the process and the opportunity to be involved in the set up and wrap up. Graeme’s calm approach and professionalism left you to soak up and absorb the beautiful scenery.

Thank you for your inquiry about Floating Images hot air balloon flights and the potential wedding possibility. Since our commencement of ballooning over the Ipswich, Somerset & Scenic Rim region, we have carried out every year, a number of weddings up in the air and in the balloon!
Floating Images is the only hot air balloon company in South East Queensland to offer a combined city & country balloon flight. Only 30 mins drive from Downtown Brisbane.
Our balloon flights are over the Greater Brisbane region encompassing the Valleys of the Scenic Rim, Somerset countryside & heritage city of Ipswich.
Our standard balloon program includes:
Commencing at Sunrise
Meet & Greet Passengers at Ipswich
Inflation & Deflation of balloon participation
One Hour hot air balloon scenic flight,
Restaurant Champagne Breakfast
Commemorative Flight certificate
& all flight program vehicle transfers from our pre arranged meeting point.
Participants need to allow 3 - 4 hours for the ballooning program.
