About
Ipswich Nature Centre in Ipswich's historical Queens Park offers a magical opportunity to get up close and personal with Australian native wildlife. For 80 years, locals and visitors have been able to see animals on this site, and the twenty-first century version is up there with the best wildlife refuges. And to make the cute and furry animals feel as at home as possible, there are lush landscaped gardens and exhibits that have been recreated to represent local bushland and flora communities. A handsome rotunda built in 1891 is the entrance to the Centre, which asks for a donation of a gold coin as entry fee to help with the upkeep of the animals. From there, you stroll on shady walkways and enjoy the cute native residents such as wombats, wallabies, emus, quolls, and a nocturnal bilby exhibit. A vibrant rainforest bird aviary is alive with colour and sound, and youngsters will have a ball in the barn which has calves, lambs, pigs and guinea pigs. Open six days a week.

This is a wonderful place to visit for all ages, so much to see and the walk in bird aviary is divine. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Even though the Corona Virus has impacted on the availability of some areas, it is a beautiful peaceful place to visit and take time out from the real world.

A wonderful, free (gold coin donation) feature for Ipswich locals and visitors. Beautiful setting and easy parking and access. We find going in the afternoon gives best chance to seeing the nocturnal animals rousing from their sleep!

A little gem hidden away in Ipswich. Both the kids and parents enjoyed this place so much. There were so much to see (animals, birds, beautiful walk) all laid out nicely in a very accessible way. It's next to a park and playground so this was a perfect day out with family. Entrance is free but gold coin donation appreciated.

We got to experience the Animal encounter that Ipswich Nature Centre offers. It was a fantastic experiene without spending too much money. Very informative tour. Loved being able to see all the animals so close and listen to all the information about them.
Great way to spend a morning, would highly recommend this tour.

A great place to visit for families and I loved that its not huge so you don't need to spend the whole day. The animals are well cared for with natural feeling enclosures and the VIP tour was full of interesting information.

Queens Park has always had a zoo of some form: You know the mad old parrot in the too small cage! IE: Old school cages with animals you felt sorry for!
Well that is long gone! A walk through enclosure with sub ares specializing in snake, dingo, wallaby, kangaroo and bilby. All extremely well maintained. On a par with Currumbin Bird Sanctuary and Taronga Park: Obviously on a smaller scale!
Large free flight aviary is yet another experience.
Certainly there is enough here for a day trip from Brisbane or Toowoomba. Pack a BBQ and find a cool place under the many surrounding large tree, go for a walk. Much to see here including the adjacent Nerida Gardens, Ipswich version of Toowoomba's famous Japanese Gardens.
Must do experience and just perfect for a slow afternoon.

Thought this was very good, they had a few different animals inside, it's in a nice setting in the park and it is completely free to enter!

nice tiny zoo with some local animals, good walking trails, many were hiding because of heat, saw few kangaroos, plenty of bats, lizards, interesting, good for kids to learn

We loved our visit here. Our only trouble was finding it. In Queens Park, it is on the right hand side as you head up the hill on Goleby Ave
