About
Dive with critically endangered grey nurse sharks all year round. Other species commonly seen at this spectacular underwater formation are eagle rays, turtles, bull rays, giant Queensland groper, leopard sharks, manta rays, wobbiegong sharks and much, much more. In winter we are joined by the humpback whales for their annual migration. This is a must do dive while visiting South East Queensland.

Had an awesome day diving with Wolf Rock Dive! Even with a bit of chop on the water, the boat was well equipped and crew was super friendly and helpful! Special shout-out to DM trainee David for absolute 5 star service :) 30+ grey nurse sharks swimming around us, so close and chill! Nudis, eels, a turtle, and some beautiful big fish! Would highly recommend, I’ll be sure to come back soon!

Very professional and security oriented dive center.
Splendid dives with the grey nurse sharks.
The only downside is the long boat ride, but it's definitely worth the effort.

I dived Wolf Rock with the Dive Centre crew and had a great day out. From the time I walked into the shop I was made welcome. From there, it's an exhilarating ride out to the dive site. At this time of the year, we were able to see plenty of whale activity on the way out, initially from a distance. Once there I was highly impressed with the close vicinity to the rocks that we were able to moor up in. I'd say 15-20 meters. As a commercial skipper and retired dive instructor, this was impressive in itself. We had been well briefed by both our instructor/guide and skipper. The dive is not simple, with strong vertical and horizontal currents, so the guides need to be on their game, and they were. We saw 3 different species of sharks, schools of trevally and tuna, turtles, a very large eagle ray and countless other colorful fish species. During our surface interval a pod of humpback whales came to say hello. How good can it get?
Thanks for a great day out to the Wolf rock dive team, this was a special day, even for a crusty old dive vet like me. Cheers!

Excellent diving experience with very professional dive masters! Comprehensive briefing prior to the departure and great guidance. Saw many grey nurse sharks and two massive manta rays - an unforgettable experience. If you are an Advanced OWD or above, don't miss out. Make sure to pop a pill if you are prone to become sea sick.

The guys at Wolf Rock Dive really looked after us. We had nine divers (full trip would be ten), two dive guides and James the skipper. The boat is not big for this number of divers, but was very well managed so the number of divers was not a problem.
The trip departs from an inlet by Rainbow Beach (awesome place to stay btw), and goes out past K'Gari (Fraser Island of the dingo biting tourist's bottoms fame) and is a 40 - 50 min trip each way. Our trip was smooth on the way out and quite a bit rougher on the way home - but no problem for the boat or crew. The boat seemed capable and well looked after. It is an 8 or 9 metre pontoon boat.
Wolf Rock is a collection of rocks that has a resident population of Grey Nurse Sharks - at this time of the year is really just the pregnant females but at other times can have up to 150 sharks in the area. I guessed that there were 40 or 50 sharks around on the day.
The crew worked really hard for us, loading gear, changing tanks between dives, managing the boat, and guiding the dives, all without a word of complaint were happy and fun to be around. They were great. Hot soup and drinks and snacks were provided for us between the two dives. Communications with the shop were excellent before the trip and they happily delivered me back to Rainbow Beach campground afterwards.
For the diving, we were split into two groups based on experience and were guided throughout the dive. This is a requirement placed on Wolf Rock Dive as part of their concession to ensure that us visiting does not affect the sharks - but it was well done and not an issue at all. The sharks were incredible! The guides made and effort to position us where we could be very close to the sharks without bothering them e.g. waiting behind rocks known to be on the shark's "circuit".
The first group off the boat saw a Manta, but our group did not.
I did 15 dives while in Australia and for me this was the best of them.

Got to be one of the best shark dive sites on the east coast, James and his team, Jason and Bailey, would have to be some of the best dive guides and never disappoint in finding all the best photo opportunities. I have dived there 3 times now and every time is so exciting Thank you Wolf Rock Dive Center.

Everything was super!!
Professional, super nice team with very detailed explanations of procedure and dives, great organization before, during and after the dives and an unforgettable experience. In two different days I could enjoy a jump within a huge variety of big fish, not only the grey nurse sharks but plenty of marble rays, groupers, yellowtail, spotted eagle rays and much more, but also great subjects for macro with the help if Jason spostino them out.
The treats between the two dives were really nice and the chatting with a cold beer at the diving center has been the cherry over the pie of two great days.
Grazie ragazzi!!!!

I just wanted to add a p.s. to my review. I noticed Wolf Rock Dive has a negative review. I was gob-smacked to read it, but the bad review is on the previous owners and definitely does not apply to the team there now. You can dive with confidence at Wolf Rock Dive.
