Amazing place to watch sunset from
The unspoilt Carlo Sand Blow is one of the gems of Rainbow Beach. Less than 1km easy walk leads you to this beautiful sand haven where you can catch a gorgeous sunset view. There is a deck at the end of the walk to be able to leave your shoes (just be careful stepping off the deck as I managed to slice my foot on a rock, and it is quite a bit step down). Also, make sure you get there with good time for sunset, and have a torch to walk back as the path is quite dark on the return. Do not miss walking up here - and if you're on foot, be prepared for quite a steep hill on the road up to the sand blow along Cooloola Drive.

    Must see this spectacular view
Sensational sunset view. We went ontop of the sand dune. Saw lots of birds feeding on insects and Eagles flying above us. And longing the distance if you look towards the Double island point lighthouse you may just see a whale breaching. We did on 27th August super excited. This is a must see. Loved it

    Something Unusual and Interesting
Great experience in seeing something different. The wind has shaped this area and is quite unique. I went on a nice, partly cloudy, day. Make sure you take a hat, sunglasses and a water bottle. Ideally you should be covered up as the suns reflection on the sand can be quite overwhelming. The journey to the beach side edge is quite easy and slopes down, however you will be surprised when you get there. Looking back on my passage, I noticed that I descended a large sand dune. The journey back was much more difficult as I had to weave my way back up

Make sure not to miss seeing the sunset and the beautiful dunes. The view is incredible. We parked our car in the car park and from there it’s only about a 600 metre walk through the rain forest on a well marked track. Enjoy.

We walked from our accomodation up to the start of the track. However, there is a carpark at the start of the track so of you've already got your 10,000 steps in for the day a better option may be driving up to the carpark then walking!

It is approximately half a kilometre walk to the sand blow itself. The track is unsealed with a few staired sections. Thongs are more than suitable.

If you walk down to the left towards the beach you'll be presented with awesome views of rainbow beach in both directions. It is a bit of a hike back up so if you're not too fit keep that in mind before racing down eagerly.

Take a boogie board with you (can be purchased from a few stores along the main Street) and ride down some of the sandy hills to the side of the sand blow

An easy walk; some stairs (handy tip: take a water bottle) and then rewarded with spectacular views of the amazing sandblow. Kids: Take your boogie board if you want the thrill of riding down the sand dune. Great little adventure for families for an hour or two. Beautiful to watch the sunset if you’re timing is right (check sunset times)

This place was incredible. A real hidden little gem.
It's a walk up a hill but it is worth it.
I was managed to see sunset before heading back to town.
If you are in Rainbow Beach dont miss this.

A really nice place for an evening short walk and a sit down to see an amazing sunset. Can get busy with others around you but there is enough space to seek some solitude. Spectacular sunsets, a must see when in Rainbow Beach.

I cant gush enough about how beautiful this place is. First off, it is a very easy walk to the sand blow. Little stroll through the trees to get there. You can do this walk in flip flops and then take them off once you get there. The view is incredible. The water is turquoise. It’s huge! This place is great for photos (wedding and engagement photos for sure), a picnic, exercise. Bring a board or large piece of cardboard for sledding down some of the hills. There’s decent parking.

Really amazing natural attraction. Incredibly huge area where you feel like a tiny ant. You really need to bring a boogey board - I didn’t and ended up unsuccessful scooching my butt down a steep sand dune. Hilarious and fun but would’ve been so much better with a board. It’s incredibly windy though but a lovely walk down to the sea cliffs where you can see uninterrupted views of Rainbow Beach. The walk back though was uphill sand - not great for the unfit.
There’s a great viewing platform which is a short 10-15min walk from the car park.

Been here a few times this year. Twice in September and once in December. All three times watched the sun set over Rainbow Beach. The third time was an anniversary picnic. I really do recommend. It is worth the walk.

Started the walk from the park i n Rainbow Beach. Quite a tough trail with steep steps and hills t o negotiate. Would be better to drive up to water tower and start from there, definitely if you have kids with you

A natural wonder!! Must see in Rainbow Beach! Beautiful views, sunset and sunrise from the dunes. Kids had a ball sliding down the dunes on boogie boards. Not a bad track from the car park. Take a torch for the walk back down if going for sunset.
