- Karen N49 contributionsVery efficientTravelled over to Straddie with our 2 year old granddaughter. I was impressed with the efficient processes for booking in and boarding. We were asked if there were any children on board before deciding where we were best placed on the ferry. Had to return earlier than we would have liked on Sunday due to later ferries being fully booked. It was expensive just for an overnight trip, but we were unable to take the passenger fast ferry as we needed to take travel cot, etc for our granddaughter. Thanks for the 5 stars we are wrapped to hear that you had a fantastic journey. Our staff work hard to ensure our customers have a brilliant experience. On behalf of all of us, we look forward to welcoming you back on-board again soon. - MartinNZ04Auckland, New Zealand30 contributionsEfficient car ferry service. We booked a return Journey with Sealink online in October to Stradbroke Island. We were on holiday from New Zealand. I rang the company to confirm and they told me to call back when we knew the registration number of our rental vehicle. A couple of days before our journey I rang back and informed them of the registration of our vehicle. We arrived in plenty of time checked in and waited for the ferry. Driving onto the ferry and parking was well organized. The journey took about 45 minutes. On arrival we just dove off no problems. On the return journey just drove on after crew checked our number plate, no problem. The journey was smooth even though the sea was a bit choppy. The ferry has toilets , and a nice cafe. All the staff we dealt with were polite helpful and friendly. Very impressed with the whole experience. I would totally recommend Sealink ferries and would use them again.Dear Martin. Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We aim to provide highly qualified staff members with great expertise in loading and unloading vehicles while delivering flexibility and awesome customer service. - Wayne PBrisbane, Australia15 contributionsTravelling with sea link for over thirty years. Very happy with the professional crews. As usual a professional crew looked after us both coming to and from Straddie. We travel over and back about three to four times a year towing a boat and a caravan. We always get to the ferry early but often confused to which lane we should line up. I would suggest highlighting which lane should be used when returning from Straddie when towing. A minor issue but may make it easier for allHi 946waynep, Thank you for taking the time to review and rate our service. We are happy to hear you travel to the island frequently and hope you are aware of our winter caravan + camping special as it would likely be a perfect fit for you :) Thank you for also providing feedback about your experience when you arrive at the terminal for travel, this feedback has been passed on to our operations team. I was completely embarrassed that our UK visitors were slugged with a $143 parking ticket because there were NO parking bays available close to the car ferry where we had planned to meet them as passengers in our car. They had to carefully park beside a "No Standing" sign which didn't obstruct any other cars or the road. Furthermore, upon our return from our day trip to Stradbroke Island we noticed other cars with parking tickets who found themselves in a similar situation and had to park up on the grass under trees.
Of course, we couldn't allow our visitors to pay the fine and so on top of the $204 we paid for our car to go on the ferry and now the $143 parking fine we are $347 in the red because of this situation leaving a very sour taste in our mouths.
It may be a Redland City Council problem but as a ferry company you really need to sort it out between you both.
So unfair!

I believe both Sealink and Stradbroke flyer have set up a trap to charge duplicate fare. I purchased a return ticket on a Sealink ferry from Cleveland. When I was returning from Dulwich, I realised I was on a different ferry service (Stradbroke flyer). The ticket guy claimed Sealink is a big company and trying to destroy their family business by operating duplicate service with same timetable. He charged me one way fare saying 'it's a daily issue and we can't afford free passengers'. Then I went to Sealink office at Cleveland wharf to get a refund for my unused one way ticket. I was told ' the other company is trying to lure Sealink customers by inviting them on board - customers only find it at the time of ticket checking and we can't refund so many customers'.
My question: as both companies are using same timetable (and both admit it's very confusing and it's a common problem), why they don't put up clear signage at Dulwich wharf? If not, why they don't inform customers at the time of initial ticket purchase, or before boarding ? Obviously Sealink's goal is to monopolise ferry business. Example, kangaroo island ferry - the most expensive ferry service in the world! However, other local companies should also not use any cheap technique to maintain their profitability.
My suggestion - Don't buy return ticket on North Stradbroke ferry !

Good quick trip to a great destination but there is a monopoly, and not just Stradbroke, they are everywhere, is a very sore point particularly with the Straddie locals. Over the past few years Sealink have tried to destroy the other family owned water taxi business and I am pretty sure they have not succeeded yet. They are the Qantas of ferries.
Like Qantas, against Rex and Virgin, they have tried to force them out by driving fares down to almost unsustainable level.
The good thing is the locals support the other business wholeheartedly.
Long may they be a thorn in the side.

As a Redlands local visiting Straddie for decades (typically 2-3 time per year) we find ourselves for the first time searching for alternate venues due to the pricing of the vehicular ferry. It does like any commercial enterprise need to turn a profit and pay its way. However, especially given the challenges facing Islanders in a post-mining era, I would suggest this issue would be worthy of a local and state government think tank to assess how current pricing potentially stifles growth.
The best example I can think of is the government subsidy applied to the trans-Tasman ferry I.e. 50%. We travelled to Tassie last year in no small part due to the affordability of simply getting to the island.
Of all the ideas and schemes I see floated in the media to help underpin the island’s tourism future, I think think this basic gateway incentive would top them all.
Mike Rowley.

It is almost impossible to book onto the vehicle ferry to and from the SMBI islands. They charge a premium price for lousy service and the airheads that answer the phones are rude and unhelpful. I have been trying to book for 2 days now to get home after an operation and their solution was to go sit there and hope I could get onto one of the ferries. It is a joke.

Travelling with Sealink on the vehicle ferry couldn't have been a better experience. Easy to navigate online ordering system, emailed receipts, knew who we were when we pulled up at the check in window, confirmation how many on board, ushered into position, safety check message and then ushered off at the other end. Left on time and arrived on time.
We arrived at the terminal ahead of time coming home and the helpful friendly staff even managed to get us on an earlier barge. Very professional service.

SeaLink ferry (vehicle) is like the ideal way to get to Stradbroke Island. The cruise is really relaxed, the onboard cafe is neat and in terms of value in our opinion it's better to take a car over there vs. taking the all day bus at $10 per person once you get on the island. Can't wait to revisit NSI again with SeaLink ferries!!!

I haven’t even gone on the service yet and I already have a sour taste in my mouth. Was given a voucher for Christmas and rang them today to confirm for a booking. We were told by my parents the voucher was for a ferry and lunch special. When I confirmed this to the operator on the phone she said “that’s never happening on the voucher you were given” she was so rude about it. Rushed into booking as didn’t want to let my parents down. Paid extra for the ferry even though we thought it was included. Only to get an alert on Facebook hours later confirming there is a ferry and lunch special for 2. Not very happy with the service we received and probably won’t recommend anyone using it based on first impressions.

Hi , looking at camping at south currigee camp grounds, I have a 4x4 with rooftop tent. Can I drive it to the camp grounds?
Written 7 November 2019
Hi Fearless, as per Alan's response you need a permit to drive on the beach, however the campgrounds you are enquiring about are not on North Stradbroke Island. I think it may be located on South Stradbroke Island and we do not service that island. Thank you.

What if you miss the last ferry? Are there any other services, water taxis?
Written 25 October 2019
Hi, it depends on the day, on week days generally the last vehicle ferry is 5pm from Cleveland or 6pm from Dunwich whereas the last passenger ferry is 6.25pm from Cleveland or 6.55pm from Dunwich. On a Friday and Sundays the last vehicle ferries are later than the last passenger ferries. Our
website has timetables for both vehicle and passenger ferries so you can have a better idea or download the brochure.

No.
Nearest car hire for you is Capalaba.
Not sure how you will get between the ferry terminal and Capalaba either.
The two depots advertised on the web in Capalaba are:

Hi Leannda, the best thing to do would be to travel at high tide, as the angle of the ramp is less severe. We take low cars, coaches and caravans over to the island on a regular basis.
