I travelled with my son all the way from Melbourne to Eden before Xmas just to experience reef fishing with Freedom Charters, who were recommended by a friend of mine. My son lives in the US, and he is really passionate about fishing. I booked ourselves for 2 group tours, one for the 24th, and the other one for the 26th of December. We had an amazing experience on the 1st day catching lots of pikes, snappers and some scorpion fish. Mark and Lindsay went out of their way to make the trip memorable for the people in the group, taking us to different parts of the reef, explaining the tricks of the art, taking the fish off the hook (to avoid injury for inexperienced fishermen) and even cleaning the fish at the end.
Our chances for a 2nd trip, however, became very slim, as heavy rain started pouring in the afternoon on the 25th, and continued into the night. Mark called me up and explained that the conditions were so bad that the trip had to be cancelled. He offered to take us again, 2 days later, on the 1st available opportunity, but this was not an option for us, as we had to go back to Melbourne on the 27th. Although sadly, we accepted reality that there would not be another fishing experience for us in Eden.
Mark, this terrific man, however, knowing that we travelled from such a long distance just to participate in this fishing tour could not accept that we might have to go back with disappointment. He called me up at 6 am on the following day, and told me that despite the weather was still quite windy and a bit rainy, he was willing to take just the two of us for fishing. All the other people in the group already cancelled their trip and went back to where they came from. After thinking for a few seconds we happily accepted the offer. The weather initially was really windy and a light rain was drizzling, but it improved a lot during the morning. Despite some difficulty recognising when the fish was biting due to the waves, we caught a large number of snappers, perches and pikes, and a parrot fish. We will always be grateful to Mark for making that day an experience of a lifetime, and I highly recommend contacting them if you are really keen on catching fish.

I had an incredible experience with Freedom Charters in Eden, NSW. Our 6 am departure led us to the first reef within 20 minutes, where the fishing adventure began. We caught a diverse range of species like snapper, perch, pike, scorpion, flathead, bream, salmon, and more. I even landed the biggest fish of the day! The captain and deck hand were not only knowledgeable and professional but also added a friendly touch with great banter. I highly recommend Freedom Charters to anyone visiting Eden for a memorable fishing trip.

Mark and his wife do an excellent job firstly booking you in with ease on the charter you would like.
Mark gets his boat on the reef quickly and sets up a great morning of fishing. All his tackle is in good condition and plenty of fish are caught by everyone.
Hot drinks and snacks party pies and sausage rolls are served during the morning. His knowledge of the reefs and also the landmarks and history of eden is great.
If your after a great non crowed fishing charter/whale watching experience I would highly recommend freedom charters. This was our second trip with them but definitely not our last.

Fantastic day fishing with skipper Mark and deckie Lindsay - they were really great operators and highly recommend them. Beautiful day with sun out and flat seas and we caught 20 plus fish between 5 of us with some very nice reef fish boated. Traveled from Merimbula as no operators working this week and it’s really just a 20 minute run to Eden. Top day

We booked a fishing charter with Freedom Charters for our work Christmas party and everyone had a great time. The crew provided all the gear and knew exactly where the fish would be. I would highly recommend Freedom Charters

A great morning of reef fishing where we caught Salmon, snapper, and some other species. The trip was so good my mate and I went again 2 days later and had an even better morning of fishing. I would definitely recommend the charter, the skipper, Mark and the crew, Lindsay were very helpful to all onboard.

We had a wonderful day touring the Whitsundays with Ella and Chris! Fabulous snorkeling, white sand beaches. And most exciting of all we got to visit Whitehaven beach. Chris and Ella were considerate, safety conscious, great with the kids we had on the trip and did everything they could to accommodate the requests we had. Highly recommend!

Lovely group of people to spend all morning with.
Slow start to the fishing. Perfect weather and the Sunrise was amazing, extremely happy will definitely be doing it again next time we're back in New South Wales 😍👌

Brilliant charter! We were onto the reef and catching within 20 minutes of leaving the harbour. Caught heaps of beautiful fish including many Snapper, Nannygi, and Morwong amongst many other colourful species. My two boys had a great time too. Friendly, helpful and relaxed crew who did an amazing job not only rigging but also brought us hot drinks and pies and sausage rolls. Perfect for a cold day. Great value fishing trip and plenty of fish for everyone to take home for a feed. Highly recommended.

Brilliant morning with Mark and Lindsay and a memorable experience for the younger ones as well.
Set off at 6am for a 5 hours journey.
Mark and Lindsay were knowledgeable, professional and great host. We were well looked after, coached us and the little ones how to put bait on, handle the rod. They ensure baits are there, lend a hand when we are about to pull up a big one and also capture the moments for us.
They took care of all the fish caught, cleaned and gutted it before packing away.
Caught some snapper, flatheads, rockfish, morwongs.
Set off at 6am for a 5 hours journey.
