A great place to hike and view some awesome rock formations. There are plenty of opportunities for photography. At the peak, there's a restaurant set into the formation. You can hike at your own pace and the peak has many formations to appreciate.

Take a few days exploring this area. The Bastei Bridge gets the crowds( Deservedly) but there is a wide other surrounding countryside there for the picking.

The small Elbe River-side village of Rathen formed our base for a three-hour 200 metre plus ascent of the basalt hills to view the Elbe Valley and the spectacular mountain formations. There are many great views and it's a photgrapher's paradise..

There is quite a long fairly easy walk from the car parks to the upper viewing platforms and but well worth it - the views of the Elbe are absolutely stunning. The facilities are good although the goods in the two kiosks are typically pricey....More

It's as if you are looking from the top of the world - down at the Elba River. If you are lucky, you can see the climbers go up the side of the mountains - scary!! Lots of fascinating history behind the structures, the people...More

This was my first visit to the region and even though the weather was typically damp and foggy for the time of year, the landscape is very beautiful. Great for hiking (and climbing), I’ll definitely be back.
