If you could visit just one Sight, this the one you have to see. I'm still amazed how the germans could build a "walkable" path with stairs in the middle of stone and forest without disturbing the nature. We did this walk with our 8...More

Bastei is a huge natural stone formation high above the river Elbe, in earlier history a place for artist to create paintings and for exotic visits, today a mass tourism site. But it must be seen, though one must admit that choosing an off season...More

If heights bother you, you might want to skip this attraction. It is, however, amazing here. These sandstone rock formations exceed 1000 feet. There is a lot of walking and a lot of steps. Walking across the Bastei bridge is a fun experience. This bridge...More

A group of us went there by private coach and started a hike from there. Amazing views, not to be missed if you are in the area.

Really nice place to visit! We only went to the Bastei itself because we planned a short stop during our trip to czech republic. I think the surrounding is really worth for hiking.

Rocky castle with beautiful views. Nice, but you can find many similar or even better in wide surroundings.

I took the ferry from Bad Schandau to Rathen and hiked via mostly a long stair way to Bastei. Much of the passage was through the woods and mountains, very well preserved and safe. It took me about 25 min to reach the summit but...More

Watching a stone bridge on the top of a cliff is something you don't get to see every day. This beautiful place can be accessed comfortably by car and a bus or by a challenging walk up. Either way, the reward is just amazing.

We visited Bastei Bridge by car. The brown road signs "Bastei" lead to the site from all directions. We parked a car at the lowest parking - park & ride - marked P+R. Cost €3.00 (for 3 hours) paid at one of many automats around...More

I went down from Bastei to Rathen and had no problem. I think the only problem can be to find the path start in the town, because it's "hidden" behind buildings.

Hi There are some rails but in general these are stairs in rocks and require some skills. If the person is not ready for some hiking experience you should be careful. You can enter the beginning enjoy some views and stop... More
