Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is one of the two gardens of Yangzhou, the other being Heyuan Garden. Parking and the entrance is at the North Gate, along East Yanfu Road (Yan Fu Dong Lu). The garden itself is quite small but remarkable - the representation of the four seasons, spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Especially enjoyed the rock cave formations which you can ascend and descend within - can be wet and slippery after it rains but cool nevertheless.

The residence/living quarters give a glimpse of life in the past and are good as well. A tourist guide can be worth it here as there aren't really explanations of each area (not even in Chinese). There is a designated sightseeing path for you to follow although the directions are not always well marked and can be confusing - this sightseeing path would allow you to complete the garden in about 30 minutes if you're pressed for time. I recommend 1-2 hours if you're not pressed for time - sit down and enjoy the garden atmosphere.

The exit is at the east of the Garden and if you want to head back to the parking lot/North gate, you have to walk through many shops and stalls selling various types of merchandise.

Along with Shou Xihu Garden. Also in Yangzhou, a must see. But go first thing in the morning and avoid weekends to have any chance of seeing this marvelous garden with any sense of personal space. There are a lot of people in China and they want to see this garden too. The only question is,why do Chinese need to go around in large packs headed by loud tour guides to see their own country while the occasional foreign tourist generally can get along quite nicely, enjoying nature by himself or herself. But if you make it to Yangzhou, and you should, enjoy this cities gardens and its laid back coffee shops, and bustling market streets, some of which are a bit hidden, so you have to walk around.

This garden is just as typical as all the other Chinese gardens- There is a variety of Bamboos all over the garden. There is also many artificial rocks, which i heard was taken from another province in China by a wealthy man, There is also a mini lake in this Garden. However, it all ends there. There is an endless maze of seemingly alike rooms of the wealthy family in the garden, coupled with antique furniture. At first, it might seem interesting, but you will find it hard to take any more meaningful photos after awhile. Washrooms are also scarce.

It is the oddly the off season at the moment so it is 30RMB/person and you have full access to the park. You could either hire a guide or walk around yourself. If you want to learn more about the culture and history of the lifestyle back then, you should hire a guide. We just strolled around and wandered through the rock mazes. If you continue past the large garden with the big pond, you will find the living quarters which are interesting to see. We spent an hour walking around but overall it's quite small but worth seeing!

The Geyuan Garden had two main themes. Firstly, its abundance of bamboo trees and secondly, it’s cleverly - and pleasingly - laid out four rockeries representing the four seasons. A stroll through the four, seasonal rockeries of Geyuan Garden was like a condensed trip through spring, summer, autumn and winter.

As a "spoken english" teacher and new to the area one of the chinese teachers at one of my schools invited myself and my 3 year old son the weekend of the Moon Festival to tour this garden with her and her family (husband and 6 year old daughter). The living quarters are beautiful, as are their furnishings. I really liked the different artwork on display in different rooms, everything ranging from landscapes and calligraphy, to papercutting and pottery.
The kids ran around freely to their hearts' content, although we did have to keep my son from trying to climb the ornamental rocks in the garden and near the indoor pond/pool. It was a bit crowded, due to the holiday though. Also, with my son having blond hair and hazel eyes, I think he got more attention than the garden bhy some tour groups.
Definately worth a visit if you're in the area.
