Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s a large beautiful garden along a lake (old man made canal). Very clean and well maintained but too hot in the summer. Hiring an English guide on site is the only way I could understand the history here. Even for Chinese speakers it’s necessary to read the history on your own (very few signs here). So the guide was great but quite expensive ($50 for 70 minutes)

We were fortunate enough to have a local take us through and we really enjoyed every pert of it.
This is a massive garden , it is about the size of a suburb,so here are a few tips.
Go mid week if you can as it is less crowded.
Definitely buy a map at the entrance, you will get lost otherwise.
Give your self a minimum of 3 hours here, and possibly more.
There are cafes for lunch, boat hire and plenty of pavilions, water features, gardens and bridges.
Start at the south gate and aim to walk through to the North gate, that is the best route.
If you are stuck halfway near the closing time you can get an electric cart ride out for RMB 10, but you may need to ask for help to find the bus/cart pick up points.
The toilets are Chinese, but they were very clean , make sure you take a half roll of toilet paper in your day bag. ( Very important )!!

A very nice place to walk and enjoy the very picturesque lake. Many pavilions and bridges to explore not forgetting the beautifully manicured parks. Avoid weekends if possible, it can be overcrowding

When I was young, I went to this place many times. But since I moved to the US, I have not been there for a few years. During that time, the place has been expanded greatly. While I enjoyed the classic scenery of my youth, I don't know if I really like the new areas. Those new buildings, though in classic Chinese garden style, seem to be a little fake to me. The styles no fit well together. I still enjoy the old part of the park.

Slender West Lake is very small compared to West Lake. But it's beautiful. It's surrounded by colorful landscape. It's so peaceful.

This is a very pleasant place to while awày 4 hours or more. There are lots of pretty scenes to photo. The entrance fee is a bit steep at 150 RMB with no reduction for over 65s. We chose a 2-day package at 220 RMB which included He and Ge gardens, DaMing temple and an evening cruise on the Grand Canal. The individual fees would supposedly have come to 345RMB. I would suggest that you leave the park by the north exit if you intend to visit DaMing temple next.

Yangzhou has many more, better, cheaper and more enjoyable attractions for visiting than this. Overrated and Expensive (approx.4 times more than other very significant and better spots) is often full of crowds simply because it is known as the No1 of Yangzhou and Lotus Bridge (probably the only very good spot among the other average ones) serves as city's sign. Waters are exactly the same as per city's canals, motives and arrangements repeat themselves, size is unreasonably big imposing you either to walk for long distances or pay and take the boat, activities very expensive, and especially during Summer Time is completely packed with people and the generated waiting lines are very long. Apart from tired or feeling bored one feels stressed when brings little children, worrying not to loose them in the crowds. To be noted, that this attraction is popular only to tourists and newcomers and not to locals. At the end it leaves you with the sensation..."Now,why did I do this?".

We visited this area one morning. I say area because I think there are several different names and reviews for the entire area we toured. We toured the salt merchants house and the beautiful four season gardens. I really enjoyed learning how the family lived and the story of the gardens. I love the contrast of this peaceful area to the busy city outside the gates. We boarded a boat and toured in the lake drinking tea and listening to the guide. You pass under and by many beautiful bridges which all have a name and story. Along the way there are bonsai gardens and others areas you can walk through. I also enjoyed seeing the families out enjoying boat rentals and exploring. Coming from a country that is hyping up being almost 150 years old to a city that next year will celebrate 2500 years is a bit mind blowing. This is a special area of Yangzhou well worth a day exploring.

You better take a boat trip in this lake as it's quite big and not really well enjoyed while you're walking..
Bridges are beautiful as well as the flowers!

Fantastic Scenary, making this a must-go whenever you visit yangzhou. However, the serene atmosphere was ruined by the loud chattering of mainlanders and locals. Would be better to visit on a weekday.
