A great place to stop at and to see how a family really leaved. It is in a beautiful setting. You can read about the family that really lived there, and sometimes a family member is there to tell their story.

A must see! Just a short walk through the woods to an amazing homestead that is as educational as it is beautiful. There is a road to the homestead and parking area with wheelchair access

The Homestead is within Stone Mountain State Park, accessible by a scenic trail (road for handicapped). The old home and outbuildings are much as they were when last occupied 50 years ago. Spectacular Stone Mountain forms the north end of the valley, and rock climbers often access it through the Homestead. A variety of other trails and waterfalls can be... More

As we came down from the Stone Mountain, we walked by the Hutchinson House. There were a lot of signs explaining the history of that farm. We were able to visit the barns, the outbuildings and the house. However we couldn't go inside. Everything was securely locked. This farm contained 350 to 400 acres of land, including orchards, livestock, tobacco,... More

This is located in Stone Mountain State Park in NC. This is a type of museum to show how the early mountain settlers lived. There are several structures, the main house, smoke house, barn, etc. Each has a bulletin of how that stucture was used. I am on the understanding that the last Hutchinson is still alive and goes there... More
