This is a great archives with many novel exhibits and photos relevant to the OBX. Most interesting to those investigating family history. Fascinating aerial photos of the Outer Banks from the WWll era. Get help finding access to really old maps of the area.

FIrst experience here was awful. I'm glad I decided to give it another try. It was cold and windy in March but I expected that. I found a lot of whelk shells. We stayed at an ocean front hotel that was older but clean. We went to the almost all of the lighthouses. We went to every visitor center, art... More

Have had the opportunity to utilize the archives and several collections in this Center on several occassions. So delighted to find new information for my family tree as well as info on Life Saving Station surfmen and keepers. There are hidden gems here in the library and collections. Wonderful curators and staff. Always helpful and friendly.

I absolutely love the Outer Banks. Take a wonderful hike, check out the wild horses, light houses and very pleasant people. If you're considering the NC Outer Banks as a family vacation, just do it!
