We attended the presentation of the Art Deco automobiles. Absolutely incredible. Stunning designs from the 30's and 40's. We also visited the West wing of the museum that has a great display of modern and European art and sculpture. Viewing art from the 1200-1600's was an incredible experience. This is truly a must see. The permanent exhibits are viewed free... More

We make several trips to the NC Art Museum every year. They have rotating Exhibits and great permanent galleries. We went this trip for the Rolling Art Exhibit "Art Deco Automobile". Closes this Sunday. But a great display of some 1930's $0's automobiles.

We, two friends and I, drove up (2 hours each way) to see the special 'Rolling Sculpture Art Deco Cars From The 1930's & 40's' exhibit. It was outstanding; well worth the 4 hours on the road. This is not the first time we have done this since the exhibits vary and the museum gets some spectacular shows, like this... More

I found the outdoor part a little more up my alley. It is an interesting walk filled with art. Definitely a top 10 place to check out in Raleigh.

This remarkable institution manages to mount special showings that are similar only in that they are wildly unique. For example, one recent show featured some very good Rembrandts, while the one current as of this writing is a glorious display of automobiles designed in Art Deco styles. Additionally, the permanent collection of Rodins is a worthwhile complement to those in... More

Took my friend to the museum for a visit. We both were enchanted with the museum and the quality, variety and display of the art in the west building. We took much longer than expected enjoying the paintings and sculptures here and didn't really leave enough time to explore the special exhibits or the east building. One note make a... More

This museum is not a must see but it does have a lot going for it. If you are in the area it is worth a stop.

Easily accessible and exhibits are laid out so even if there are a lot of people in the museum, there's still a lot of room to easily see the exhibits fro a lot of different angles and not feel rushed to move on.
