We stopped here for a hike and found the trails well kept and well marked. We did not go to the pinnacle because I'm scared of heights, but enjoyed the trails that we hiked. We brought our dog and enjoyed the day. Recommend.

I stopped by here for a hike and view on 8/9/17. My 15 and 12 yr olds took a hike with me. We took the Jomeokee Hike from the Summit area parking lot. It is a moderate 0.8 miles hike. It is very doable and...More

We were able to hike to the summit and the views do not disappoint. Wide trails but expect lots of steps (both up and down.) Clean, fresh air and gorgeous views. Clean rest rooms. Everything is free since this is a state park.

I have always seen Pilot Mountain but never got to hike it until recently. It is very close to Winston Salem (less than 30 minutes). They have a road almost to the top if hiking isn't your thing, with great views. If you do lot...More

Pilot Mountain is a really nice park. Great views from atop the mountain. Free to enter, park offers trails for hiking. Park is dog friendly and we enjoyed seeing the different breeds.

The view and climb up to the knob well worth the time. Always a stop when in the area. Gorgeous views of the valley and Winston Salem can be seen in the distance on a clear day.

Pilot Mountain, between Mt. Airy and Winston-Salem, NC, provides a pleasurable break from city life. A two mile road takes you to the top of Little Pinnacle, where vistas may be enjoyed, or you can opt to hike to the top of Big Pinnacle. Either...More

I met a friend here because it was halfway for each of us and we wanted to camp a night. We arrived on a Monday and the campground was almost completely empty. Very nice bath house with hot showers. Campsites were nicely spaced so you're...More

I'd read about the Little Pinnacle Overlook trail, an easy, short trail just off the Summit parking lot. From what I read, I thought the drive up might be a little scary but it was just fine. The parking lot on top is good size...More

Campsites are open year around. Although I did find out last winter that during inclement weather the affected state parks will close.

I do not know of any sites with hookups on the mountain in the park, but there is a campsite about 1/4 mile downhill from the gate with full hookups.
