Tufts Archives

Great place to spend a few hours, especially if you enjoy golf. You can tell the volunteers really enjoy their work. They can answer anything.

This was my second visit to Tufts. The first for a Donald Ross reception last October and this time for my own pleasure. My husband is a member of the Donald Ross Society and we spent an hour or so revisiting the photos, memorabilia and speaking with Audrey. This library is phenomenal!

Fantastic place to look at golf history. We stayed for over an hour and could have stayed longer. The staff was very knowledgeable and welcoming.

Hidden in back of the public library, a wonderful display of the history of Pinehurst. Kay, was so kind and attentive, answering all our questions.

I live in Pinehurst, so I may be deemed biased, but if you are into golf history, this is one of those hidden gems that everyone should include on a visit here. There is much more history here than just golf with Mr Tufts background. The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and extremely helpful.

This is a "museum" of the archives of the founder of Pinehurst Resort back in the late 1800's. Very interesting reading about all the people involved with establishing this resort.

Lots of great history in this room, and the ladies point out many highlights you might miss. Make sure you check out the soda fountain machine that started it all!

The Given Library is a gem of a place. A locally supported library with a great collection and a real treasure in the back--the Tufts Archives. The Tufts family were instrumental in the establishment of Pinehurst and golf in the area. (You should also know they were pretty good hunters--I have been on a number of quail and dove hunts... If you are interested in more than golf, the Tufts Archives is fascinating. This beautiful museum tells the story of the founders of Pinehurst. As my mother was born in old Pinehurst, I found it very intriguing. My grandfather worked at the old Pinehurst Dairy, and I think I even spotted him in some of the photos.
