I never miss the chance to visit when in the area. Fascinating story, history, galleries, and a great coffee shop!

I spent two weeks at Penland in the summer studying felting in the Lily Loom Fiber House. I applied for a work/study scholarship and was so excited to recieve the discounted stay. I studied under an amazing artist whose work I had been following for years. I stayed in the Craft House, one of the oldest building on campus, built... More

We have been visiting Penland for almost two decades and finally decided to attend their two week courses this summer. The setting is not only magical but the studios vibrate with creativity. People of all ages and backgrounds come to discover hidden potentials and learn new crafts. In my case, way beyond my comfort zone, as I worked casting bronze.... More

The Gallery alone is worth the mountain adventure...Don't miss... More

Very nice gallery. Unfortunately, the school was between sessions so there was nothing going on when we visited. We could still visit all the buildings which were open. There were also several nice studios in the area.

Spent a lovely hour or so just walking the grounds and through the gallery. I had no idea how amazing the campus is and how comprehensive the programming offered there is. Well worth the long and winding road to get there for some inspiration and creative spark.

We attended the 30th Annual Penland Auction this past weekend. The crowd was large but by no means uncomfortable. The auction went extremely well. The last time we visited was during an October and things were less hectic but less exciting as well. This is a great place to visit to see the galleries and the artist studios. The setting... More

I've been wanting to visit Penland for years. Finally my husband had a Saturday off and we went. It was beautiful...the scenery was amazing but I was disappointed that the visitors center was under renovation. I'll need to re-visit when it's completed.
