We have been coming to Ocracoke for several years now and enjoy seeing the beautiful lighthouse. You can't climb it, but we were able to go inside and look around thanks to the volunteers who open it a couple times per week.
The Ocracoke Lighthouse was a great place to visit. You are not allowed to climb it but the bottom level is open. An attendant was very helpful with information and history of the lighthouse. It is the second oldest still operating lighthouse.
Pretty and well maintained, it's an interesting piece of Ocracoke history. It's only a 15 minute visit, though. You can't go in, and can't climb up. There is no store or information booth. The only information is on a poster board at the entrance. If...More
Can not enter nor go up the light house only pictures from outside, the history walking down the wood pathway does make a great location for pictures. How ever not the best thing to waste time with at the Beautiful island Ocracoke
We went here because we've been visiting these all down the coast and it was next.
However, you can not climb up.
There is no gift shop.
There is only one person there to ask questions.
It was very nice but not very engaging.
