Kind of weird to find a lighthouse with no water in view. Crowded almost no area for parking. But it's a lighthouse for those that are viewing lighthouses in the area. Small plack explains about the lighthouse not being open to the public.

It's worth the stop, with pleasant grounds and picnic tables. The lighthouse was not yet open as it was early March, so that was not possible when we were there.

We love visiting the lighthouse. The area is kept very nicely and the stopping places allow you to understand the history of this beautiful lighthouse.

If on the Island, you should definitely stop by this adorable lighthouse. This is an integral part of the island’s history. It is also a lovely spot for photos.

This was the first lighthouse I had ever seen. You can walk around the bottom of it, there is a store. I visited this store along time ago in 2000.

Great little walk from center of town. What you would expect from a lighthouse, nothing spectacular. The history of the lighthouse was neet. Unable to climb the lighthouse.

This lighthouse is still a functioning lighthouse. Visitors see a sign explaining the lens, the history of the lighthouse and the construction of the building. There are no guides and you can’t enter the building.

The most recognizable structure in Ocracoke Village, of course, is the famous lighthouse. Built in 1823, the 75-foot beacon is the oldest operating lighthouse in North Carolina. Although the tower is closed to the public, a portion of the lighthouse grounds is open to visitors,...More
