For years I've seen this lighthouse from Southport; love watching its light at night beaming. Finally made it over to Caswell Beach where this is located-not actually on Oak Island (confusing). Beach itself has NO public parking. Area to park by lighthouse very limited. We...More

In the scheme of things, the Oak Island Lighthouse is a null. Decommissioned and not open to the public, there's not much to it other than to get a picture in front of the sign. What is more interesting is the boardwalk to the beach...More

This has to be the plainest light house on the eastern seaboard. If it isn't I can't imagine what the other one looks like. It's the equivalent of the gender non-specific clothes of 1960's-era Communist China. Good for a ten minute stop - maybe.

We love lighthouses and this one was convenient. With a nice oversee action deck across the road. We visited after hours but we're not disappointed. We took a walk on the beach also. Very pretty. Hope you enjoy as much as we did

I was not planning to go to the lighthouse on this trip but was invited by some friends, and I am glad I went. The tour was limited to the lower parts of the lighthouse, apparently they only have tours to the top on certain...More

This is a neat light house. The volunteer that was working at the light was amazing. He was very friendly and personable. You have to make reservations to go to the top of the light house. We did not know this when we went. You...More

It's a light house. It flashes light so Mariners don't crash into land. You need to plan ahead during off season if you want to go inside. Two weeks in advance to make an appointment. Limited parking is for 30 minutes only. The boardwalk to...More

Family vacation and son reserved our group a spot. The all volunteer group of at least three tour guides give 2 tours every tuesday and thursday. They are extremely knowledgeable of the lighthouse itself, the immediate area, and the extended area historical spots and just...More

We drove down to see it. The tours are weds and Saturday from 10-2. They only allow you to go up two flights of stairs, which is fine. We could see it from the beach so we wanted to see it up close.
