An interesting and still important lighthouse that can be visited but not climbed. (NOTE: The lighthouse is currently under construction, and is expected to re-open in summer 2013, with the ability to be climbed for the first time)

We came after the lighthouse had been closed for the year. It is a beautiful location. The only thing that would make it better is more of a display outside of the lighthouse explaining about its history.

This is really an iconic lighthouse, smaller than its cousin, but about an hour closer! A nice boardwalk takes you through the wetlands to a terrific viewpoint. There is no museum here; the keeper's house is only the shop and a place to get driving...More

I've been wanting to see Bodie Lighthouse up close for years and I have to tell you I wasn't disappointed. It was at sunset and was breathtaking. I didn't go inside the shop or the lighthouse as both were closed but will come back earlier...More

The lighthouses of OBX are worth a trip in and of themselves. Each has a unique beauty, typically a storied history, and are always a fun destination.

We stopped while driving to the national seashore. Visit was shorten by the weather conditions windy and being off-season we could not go inside the light house we will be back as the grounds are large and walking trails are easy to get around

Check with the National Parks Service. It is still worth seeing, and my husband and I were there when it wasn't open. The grounds are magnificent and there's a boardwalk that leads to a marsh with stunning views of the water... More
