Parked right in front of the visitors center, warmly greeted when we entered. Bypassed all the pamphlets and went right to the desk. A Gentleman helped us plan our day, made some suggestions on where to go, what to see, and what to eat.

The 2 museums at the visitors center are very interesting and fun. Well worth a couple of hours browsing. The museum of Eng and Chang Bunker was very interesting and made even more interesting as we camped at the campground owned by Eng's decendants,

We made this our first stop in town. Glad we did. The staff was very informative and helpful too us in planning our day. She even told us, when we asked, where SHE eats lunch. She provided the best brochures for our interests. Worth making this your first stop.

If you are a lover of all things Mayberry then this is a must stop while in Mt. Airy. People who have watched the show for decades can get really sentimental viewing some of this collection.

We visited the visitors center in Mt. Airy during the recent Mayberry Days festival. The center and the related festival far exceeded our expectations. As did the scenery and mountains in this area of the country. My wife and I had such a good time and all in the company of other big time fans. The festival had "tribute" look-alike... More

Times are off regarding hours. Sign said 11, but was open at 9am, I believe the theater opens at 11. Great display of props used. Would recommend it. Did the non audio tour (since we had kids, and well, that is impossible).

The visitors center and museum are together. The fee to tour the museum is $6.00 without audio and $8.00 with. My husband and I went with the $6.00 as we like to view things at our own speed. Travis, works at ghe ticket window and is extremely friendly and helpful. There is tons of Andy Griffith memorabilia from the Andy... More

Stopped here as it was our first time in Mount Airy, the staff was very helpful and more than willing to share the local history and highlights, Way more to do than we could do in one day, will be back.
