We visited the visitors center in Mt. Airy during the recent Mayberry Days festival. The center and the related festival far exceeded our expectations. As did the scenery and mountains in this area of the country. My wife and I had such a good time and all in the company of other big time fans. The festival had "tribute" look-alike... More

Times are off regarding hours. Sign said 11, but was open at 9am, I believe the theater opens at 11. Great display of props used. Would recommend it. Did the non audio tour (since we had kids, and well, that is impossible).

The visitors center and museum are together. The fee to tour the museum is $6.00 without audio and $8.00 with. My husband and I went with the $6.00 as we like to view things at our own speed. Travis, works at ghe ticket window and is extremely friendly and helpful. There is tons of Andy Griffith memorabilia from the Andy... More

Stopped here as it was our first time in Mount Airy, the staff was very helpful and more than willing to share the local history and highlights, Way more to do than we could do in one day, will be back.

We went here after we had toured Main Street. We might have gone there first but we were hungry and wanted to eat at the Snappy Lunch. I don't think it would matter when you went to the museum as it is really a stand alone stop. The museum doesn't just focus on Mayberry. It covers more including Andy's other... More

Many many Andy Griffith pictures and personal items. Lots of Andy Griffith history. Benches to sit on while others read captions. Handicapped accessible.

I was traveling with a group of seniors visiting Mt Airy and the birthplace of Andy Griffith. We stopped in here first to get tickets for the evening concert. Not the best expierence! The building was very hot inside and the staff was unsure how to help us. Confussion was the name of the game here. They did have a... More

I've never rated a visitor center before but this one is worthy of praise. Elamite works there and is s fount of knowledge and s joy just to talk to. Don't miss this place on Main Street.

The center itself is small with a limited smattering of pamphlets and maps. I was disappointed in the size of the center and honestly I thought the lady handing out the maps was a little rude and crotchety, almost like she seemed like she didn't want to be there. I do not plan to return.
