I would have given this place a "terrible" but the view was so nice and the outside had nice seating, that I upped it to an "poor". My disappoints : 1) No white wine! It was sold out. I drove 1.5 hours to learn this. I wish they had posted on their web site or facebook that there was no white wine. 2) The server was not friendly at all. Talked while walking all over the place, even talked with her back to us. She acted like she didn't want to be there, and didn't want us there. 3) Though it was posted the need to wear a mask to enter building, a group of 4 entered the building without masks and nothing was said to them. Why have policies if you are not going to enforce them?
I won't go back. There are plenty of good wineries in NC where one is treated with respect and friendliness (and has wine).

We totally enjoyed our stop at the Silver Fork Winery. We sat on the deck with a beautiful view of the vineyard and mountains. My partner ordered a glass of wine while I ordered four tastings. I was very surprised when our hostess poured into the little carafes what looked to be enough wine for four glasses. She lated told me that it was the equivalent of two of their glasses, but theit one glass pour was very generous. All the wines were good, but I particularly enjoyed the cabernet france and the Four Dog Red which was a blend of cabernet, merlot, cabernet franc and petite verdot.

My sister and I went to the winery. There was no one else there, so we had good service. We spent some time there, did a wine tasting, and then bought some bread, cheese and salami and ate on the patio. The attendant was a very good sales person! All in all it was nice. My one concern was that when we arrived home, one of our bottles of wine tipped over in the bag. The bottle of wine shattered in a million pieces and we had wine everywhere! I was surprised to see that they do not use sleeves on their bottles to protect them. The bottles of wine are a bit higher in price than what one would typically see for a local wine. I called the winery at about 4:00pm and there was no answer. I tried a few more times, but still no answer. They close at 7pm, so I was surprised there was no answer. I figured it wasn't busy, so they probably closed early. I left a message about our mishap and suggested they with use protective sleeves on their wine bottles, package them a bit better, or use sturdier glass for their bottles. I also emailed them with pictures and asked that they respond. I was hoping for some type of compensation considering the amount of money we spent and the fact that they did bother to take any precautions when packaging the bottles. It has been 4 days, and I have not heard from them. Disappointed.

Beautiful views and great wine. They just have to decide if they are running a winery or a dog kennel. Shared a meal with three begging dogs and enjoyed a five minute barking dog fest. Going to look for a more peaceful winery.....

You just have to experience this as no words will do it justice. It offers everything you could possibly want for an unbelievably relaxing, peaceful, and beautiful day. This winery is perfectly situated with breathtaking views of the South Mountains on 32 acres of gorgeousness.

In addition to the magnificent landscape, there is of course great wine, a permanent food truck on the premises with 5-star quality food, live music on the weekends, a fire pit, plenty of seating inside and out, an English inspired garden, and a separate banquet hall to host weddings, showers, or other events.

We loved everything about our visit including our stem-less wine glasses that we purchased for only $2.00 a piece to take home to remember our time there. On our way out we spoke to one of the owners, Jenn, who said if she wasn't leaving to attend a show we could've stayed and hung out (past closing) for as long as we wanted. It was like visiting your good friends who just happened to live on a beautiful vineyard.

We can't wait to return - we loved everything about it!

Being an NC native, I'm not overly high on our locally-produced wines in comparison to traditional vineyards. However, Silver Fork has a few very nice wines. My wife thoroughly enjoyed their rose and I found the Cab Franc to be delicious. Silver Fork's wines are on the dry side which suits us more than other NC wines which tend to be sweeter in my opinion.

The venue itself is small but pleasant. Wonderful views of South Mountain from a shaded hillside, nice food service from a local vendor and occasional live music make it a place that invites us back. Definitely worth visiting, roughly 90 minutes from Charlotte and 60 minutes from Asheville.

This is our first visit to the area and we weren’t sure what to expect from a local winery but we were very pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed everything we tasted, which is rare for us. All of the wines were dry and I found the Four Dog red blend and the Chambourcin to be particularly good. Even as a primarily red wine drinker I enjoyed the unoaked Chardonnay and the rose. Our server (I believe her name was Kelly but I’m not completely certain) was fantastic. Super friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and other local attractions. On top of that it’s a very nice tasting room with beautiful surroundings. We left with 8 bottles between two couples and I highly recommend Silver Fork for anyone who enjoys wine and a fun afternoon in a beautiful location.

My husband and I stopped on our way to Banner Elk this past weekend. We both enjoyed a tasting and purchased a couple of bottles. The hostesses were very informant and friendly and the vineyard was beautiful. Enjoyed a bottle last night with family and plan to return to buy more!

To say we like it at Silver Fork is a gross understatement. Whenever we are in Morganton we try to spend most Saturday afternoons there. They have entertainment from 2 to 5. It is family friendly and there is no cover. We have brought grandchildren in the past. Food is available from a local food truck but we usually bring cheese and crackers and buy a couple bottles of their wine at 20 to 25 a bottle. Great view.

Upon a recommendation from a friend, my husband and I decided to check out the "Silver Fork Winery". It was a perfect day for a road trip. We live in Boone so took less than 2 hours to reach. Went to downtown Morganton for lunch at the "Grind Cafe" which is a coffee house, was ok, nothing special. Will try some place different next time.
The winery was a short drive from town. Lovely, locally owned winery, owners live on site. All the grapes for the wine are grown on the property, which is rare for NC wines. Spacious tasting room, gorgeous covered outdoor seating. Perfect place to bring a nice lunch and purchase a bottle of wine. They do however, sell a meat and cheese platter which we did not have. Tasting very reasonable at $7 for several wines. Person serving was very knowledgeable and friendly with lots of helpful information about the area. They also have a beautiful venue!!! On the weekends they have music and a food truck which is suppose to be delicious. Looking forward to returning. Was informed about a whiskey distellery close by so that will be next. Morganton is a lovely, friendly town!!!
