I learned so much about the history of not only the house, but also of McDowell County. If you have not been here, I highly recommend that you go. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. Very knowledgeable... More

We visited this home today. We had a personal tour guide, who was very knowledgeable about this home and it's history.

The tour is $7 per adult but for that we were taken through every room in the house with every question answered. The guide was well informed and gave us a thorough understanding of the history of the house and the items in each room. Our tour was over an hour and there was no hurrying by the guide. We... More

The Carson House is a must see if you travel thru McDowell County. It is located at Marion, NC on Highway 70 close to the hwy. The house is an example of Rev. War history. The Carson family served in the Rev. and their home shows what the residents of this period endured and how they lived. This wonderful home... More

I loved this tour! I am a history nut and I love learning about the past especially Western NC history. This house is very well preserved and full of little treasures from the time period. Standing at the front door I was instantly transported back in time where I could see myself on the front porch greeting guests as they... More

This house has so much history and at Christmas it is decked out and even has night tours. They have also recently built a pavilion to the side of the property and will have future events there as the weather warms up. I've toured there twice, once at Christmas and revel in all of the special touches in each room.... More

The tales this house tells, it's many roles across the decades...Worth the short drive to hear about the past so well preserved.I have taken guests there many times and they all loved it. Docents obviously are dedicated to this wonderful old house. A great change of pace.
