Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful place full of history and the smell of old.It is worth going to this place and watching as you go down the beach to the whole mine as well as the facilities and dormitories where the staff were staying. This place is a big part of the island's history. It had to be better exploited and handed over to the island as a legacy for the future.

I highly recommend renting a 4wd to access this abandoned sulfur mine. The road down the last 500m is not particularly good and I would not suggest a 2wd try and go all of the way down. The former mine site is really interesting to wander around. Be careful of all of the shards of rusting metal, wear shoes when walking around. The beach is one of the best on Milos too, I regret not taking our swim wear. There are no toilets or shop or food options so make sure you have plenty of water and everything you need if you are going to spend a while there.

It is accessible by car. So, if you are interested in having your swim in a very special place, do not hesitate to go. Very strange atmosphere with the almost intact old buildings and the now rusted installations of the mines. People had a very difficult time there, but now you can enjoy your swim. Looking at the sea, to the left side of the bay, the water was not very transparent. And certainly you will smell sulfur. But after all, you go there not for the best beach of the Aegean but to experience something really different. You will enjoy it.

This is an alternative place, absolutely different from all other beaches. Not very easily accessed by car, you'd better park somewhere in the middle and step down on foot. The scenery is fantastic, the mines still though inactive still exist. Take pictures, walk up and down, climb the rocks, it's worth it. The sea is deep and in case of wind it may be a little blurred.

Thiorichia and Paliorema are definitely worth the effort while you're in Milos. The mines are so interesting (though a bit eerie) to walk through, and the beach is fantastic and fairly private. You can park on the road - be prepared for the dirt road getting in, but it's an awesome stop overall.

This was a beautiful beach and the water was gorgeous. The rocks rather than sand was a little rough on your feet getting in and out of the water but that did not determine a one bit from enjoying this beautiful beach.

this place was something very different from the rest of the beaches on the island. Old sulfur mines surrounded by the clear blue water was something else.
