Found this park by accident one afternoon - a very well done small city nature preserve. A quarter mile circle path on mostly smooth boardwalks - lots of nature - a catch and release fishing dock. One spot on a bridge with maybe 20 turtles...More

Very pleasant place for a walk. Turtles, people fishing, a few birds. Not amazing, no complaints. About 0.4 mile circuit on a boardwalk around a swamp with a couple of spurs to gazebos. Port-a-potty.

This board walk park through a wetland had many treasures. We saw lots of birds, turtles galore, interesting trees and bushes. Tree species could be identified better as could turtles and birds.

Found this non-advertised nature trail through TripAdvisor, suggesting we bring bread or turtle food. Well, we didn't take the advice. The ospreys were calling the turtles... What looked like THOUSANDS came to where we were hanging out at the gazebo, literally on each other's backs...More

Great nature preserve, wonderful trail. Be sure to visit the view spots, including the gazebo and feed the turtles. Adorable! So glad we stopped here.

We stopped here prior to lunch to kill some time and were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and well maintained it was! Only in the outer banks can you see something this beautiful for free! We probably saw over 50 turtles all swimming towards us....More

My husband and I like to walk and really like nature. We enjoyed walking this trail and watching the turtles and the bird that continually disappeared in the water only to reemerge several feet from where he went in. It's quiet and tranquil. There's even...More

This city park in the Kitty Hawk Woods reserve is great for a short visit. They have a very nice boardwalk winding around the park with many native species identified. We especially loved the turtle pond, though it's clear that some people must feed them....More

It is free. There is a small parking lot and you just park and walk in.

NO, because we are too far north for those types of creatures and the body of water does not feed to a major tributary.
