Talk a Walk on the Wild Side at Carolina Raptor Center What will you find on your walk around the 3/4 mile Raptor Trail? Over 30 species of raptors and other birds of prey are featured on this walk on the wild side. Owls and Vultures. Hawks and Eagles. Falcons, Corvids and other species that just don't fall into any of these categories. Have you seen a Bald Eagle up close? The Raptor Trail features a nesting pair of Bald Eagles who live out back in the Eagle Aviary. Our Spectacled Owl just can't wait to tell you what she thinks about living here at CRC, but you might have to listen carefully to what she has to say - she's a shy one. Did you know that Vultures and Corvids are some of the smartest birds around. No bird brains here! Lots of human mythology surrounds both of these families of avian brainiacs. Crows have been known to drop nuts into crosswalks so that cars can crack them and then wait for the light to change and retrieve the goodies! Behind the scenes at CRC is our Raptor Hospital, where we see approximately 900 raptor patients a year (please no songbirds or possums!). If you can't make our behind the scenes tour, don't worry, the exhibit "A Day in the Life of a Raptor Hospital" will show you what goes on there - day and night.

Glad you had a great time! Unfortunately at this time of year, we do usually have an ant migration. Unlikely to bite you in their zeal to get to a new home, but can be disconcerting! Closed-toe shoes are a great tip, however, and all...More

We enjoyed seeing all the birds or prey. We also discovered that we had a red tailed hawk in our front yard last summer.

They are fascinated by all of the different species, they like my reading the description, then we talk about each Raptor we've seen...and they're learning in the process!

Go on a day when they are feeding the vultures and at a time when there is a scheduled show. There is seating for the show and they bring the birds out one at a time to fly around the stage and over the audience....More

Our group of four adults visited CRC and we thoroughly enjoyed it. CRC offers a nice, shaded stroll through the woods to see many different species of raptors up close. We will certainly return and take other family members and friends to enjoy the experience.

We spent the morning there, and really enjoyed ourselves. My kids and I share a love of raptors, so we had a great time. It was hot, but not unbearable as it is shady. They have a large assortment of different types of raptors, so...More

Hello! Thanks for your inquiry about Carolina Raptor Center. The full trail walk is 3/4 of a mile. About 75% does not have a grade of over 10%. It is a hard packed trail with small (screening) gravel.
