I usually play a fair amount of golf in Minnesota and when I had a chance to play a quick 9 in NC...I couldn't wait! The first night I went to the course I arrived at 6:15 to find the clubhouse closed even though the sign said they were open until 6:45...that was a little disappointing, but I got a... More

I went there to limber up my long-fallow golf game. First time was no problem, paid for bucket of balls, pointed to dispensing machine, all worked ok. Range is typical square "astroturf" mats, but with rubber tees that are all much too high for normal driving. Like some others, I moved off to in front of the mat for teeing... More

When you take lessons from a Pro you expect a certain amount of professionalism. I had booked 7 group lessons with the instructor Tiffany. These lessons were scheduled 2 a week. After the first 2 lessons and just an hour before the 3rd lesson the instructor calls and says she can't be there because she is in a tournament so... More

I live nearby. Other than convenience I would not go back after two disappointing rounds. Course is mediocre and conditions are rugged. Price is higher than others within 30 minutes. First round was in March. Nice day. Greens were just "punched / aerated " a few days earlier - when we called for tee time they didn't say a word.... More

Im not quite sure why this was the most expensive public golf course in the immediate area but it was. I chose this course for that reason. I was on vacation and wanted to play the nicest course in the area so I went with the most expensive. As I have not played any of the other courses I can't... More

We arrived and attendants wouldn't touch our clubs until we checked in at pro shop. Pro shop attendant was having computer issues and couldn't check us in. We started on hole 1 and fairway was covered in wet freshly mowed grass everywhere. Got to #1 green and it was awful. Full of weeds, ball marks and damaged areas - same... More

My husband played at Birkdale Golf Club yesterday, 08/13/14. To begin with, they were getting the septic system serviced, so the initial smell was AWFUL. We could tell that at one point, the course was likely very nice, however, it is in need of serious renovations. The bunkers were basically just dirt/mud. The golf carts used to have GPS, but... Played 2 rounds at Birkdale this week. Course is getting better after a couple years of neglect and what appears to be poor management. They are in the process of redoing the traps and there are some definite drainage issues. The greens are in pretty good shape and the front 9 definitely looks better than the back. The pro shop... Played this course Saturday, April 5th, 2014. Driving range: Worn dated range balls, bare dirt to hit off of. Course Conditions: Tee Boxes have little to no grass on a majority of the boxes. Several boxes were missing the markers. Greens had been aerated recently. Lot's of weeds and bare spots within the greens making them very bumpy. Bermuda fairway's... More

So much potential but extremely poor execution. The staff is part of the problem as they share their miseries and very little enthusiasm. The pictures they have are from days of yore. Sad.
