I’ve been here a few times with my sons and we always have a great time. It’s nice to have someplace close to Durham you can go that seems a world away. We aren’t hikers by any stretch but we enjoy getting some exercise on...More

It's a fun place to trek around on. Good trails, but a lot of tree roots, so be careful. My son likes to hike up to see the sunset.

Occoneechee Mountain is a wonderful outdoor experience just five minute's drive from downtown Hillsborough. (Btw, there is a review below for the Hillsborough Riverwalk, which is an entirely *different* thing, although a ten-minute walk from the Gold Park parking lot at the end of the...More

I went on a wonderful hike here with two friends. The length of the trails was just right for a leisurely afternoon hike. Good for all athletic levels. Beautiful views along the river, a gorgeous tree overlook and well maintained paths. Con: it’s very close...More

Longest trail is a comfortable 2 miles. Very pretty walk and a wonderful view of the valley. Close to a busy highway so you do hear quite a not of traffic noise at the beginning of the trails.

Not an urban park by any means -- a small state recreation area that has rigorous uphill climbs, scenic wooded trails, fishing in ponds, paths along a river, and a small picnic area. Very pretty, quiet (except when you're on the same side of the...More

We stumbled upon Occoneechee Mountain State Park when looking for local trails, and we were so surprised! The parking lot was busy for a Sunday morning, but once on the trails we only saw a few people/dogs/babies. It seemed like a very family-friendly trail! We...More
