My daughter recently had her bridal pictures taken outside on the walking trail, in the 1800's farm village. It is breathtaking!

We took the grandbabies here and they had a great time oohing and awing everything and the outside trail tired them out so we had a great nap time.

I really like having a museum close to home and this one is exceptional for a small city like Gastonia. We bring our grandchildren to visit when they come to town and they enjoy it a lot .There is lots to see inside and out with static displays , interactive displays, nature trails, indian village, waterwheel grist mill and farm... I've been going here since I was a child and now I bring my son here. We don't come often because of the price (almost $14 for the 2 of us). He loves it for the same reasons I did growing up -the mainstay exhibits of the animals. I like when they have new exhibits that are kid-friendly and interactive.... More

While the Scheile has been around for some time (and a few of the inside displays are showing their age), it is still a great place for kids and families especially the planetarium and the outdoor exhibits. They have a number of great special events each year, and the benefits it brings to the community are great. Certainly worth a... More

Having worked with Bud and Lily Schiele many years ago, this place has a special meaning for me. Mr. Schiele was a master naturalist, and the many aspects of his life's work show through magnificently in this museum.

The museum was started by a local Boy Scout leader many, many years ago. Many of the oldest artifacts are from his collections. The Polar Bear is still one of my favorites. I loved it as a kid and the museum has grown into a very nice local attraction with a planetarium and living history site.

This museum was well done considering it was not located in a large city. Although small it was packed with a lot of information. The parking was free and easy to find. The facility was easy to navigate even with a wheelchair. I would skip the plantarium show it was not worth it. I would recommend visiting.

We LOVE going to the museum with our son. There is always something special going on that is really exciting for kids and adults. Some of the exhibits need some work, but they are constantly updating and refurbishing. Definitely a good investment for the day or the year.
