Love the Carolina Theater for events and films. It's a great historic theater with lots of ornate touches. The cinemas are big screen and show some great classics as well as indie films. Love this place.

Really nice theatre in the heart of Durham, North Carolina. Reasonable prices, excellent snack shop.

Older building but very convenient for the price. It's a welcomed relief for a family that cannot afford the bigger venue for a night of entertainment

My wife and I have been to several comedy shows at the Carolina Theatre and have sat in the upper balcony and down in the orchestra so we have had both experiences. Should you have the opportunity, sit in the orchestra.. The balconies have a feel as if you have a birds eye view and has a very steep sight... More

I go to Carolina Theater frequently. Usually for films, occasionally for live performances. It holds a very important place in Durham's history. Let's talk films first. The cinema has 2 theaters, one medium size by today's standards, the other small. New seating makes for very comfortable viewing. The real treasure is that they show limited release, early release and retro... More

I've been a fan as long as I can remember. Great place to see a film or a film festival... Retro films and the NC Gay and Lesbian Film Festival... First run art films, too. And great theatre for great bands. I've so enjoyed seeing folks like the Mavericks, Jamie Cullum, Rosanne Cash, and Durham's very own, Delta Rae.

I understand there is some history here, and nice architecture for Durham, but the sound system was not good, the seats uncomfortable, and the place was, well, just dirty. Walking out after a performance at night was scary because there were homeless panhandlers roaming around asking for money. And with all the shootings that Durham has had, it is not... More

We recently attended a concert at the Durham Theater -- one of a few times we've seen a show here. Built in the 1920s the facility is really lovely and there is not a bad seat in the house. We sat in the upper balcony and could still see and hear everything. There was even a couple dancing in an... More
