Ninth Street is obviously the old heart of Durham. It is a few blocks of shops and unique restaurants. Immediately across Ninth Street is a massive new development of some additional businesses, restaurants, a Harris Teeter and apartment/condo buildings. Parking is at a premium here. If you are staying close enough to walk you're better off, or maybe use a... More

Ninth Street is a street of varying types of shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and much more. It is just a block away from Duke University's East Campus and caters to them to a degree, but also to everyone in Durham. Besides being near Duke it sits in the middle of a neighborhood that was built for Erwin Cotton Mills, part... More

We stayed at The Hilton Garden Inn which is within walking distance to the bustling Ninth St. Unique (one of a kind) shops, diverse restaurants, bars and beer gardens. Lots of fun things to experience, like Elmo's Diner, Epa Chamo's Venezuelan restaurant, The Playhouse Toy Store and much more. Stop by and enjoy.

I needed to find an activity to pass some time before catching a flight home. I love to shop & check out interesting stores. My daughter & I had a great time looking around and checking out the variety of different shops. I'd go back when I'm back visiting my daughter.

Nice to walk around in the day, especially in weekends. A lot of new restaurants and establishments are opening.

Not very exciting, but a reasonably nice place to walk around. Quite a few decent restaurants to choose from.

Fun poking around Ninth Street with the delicious smelling coffee shops. We wandered in to Vaguely Reminiscent to look at some wallets and toys. They had a treasure trove of cool dresses. I have a "maternal" figure that is hard to flatter with a dress. However, I could have left here with 7-8 really nice dresses in easy fabrics. Helpful... More

Ninth Street is a very popular place for Duke Students and the general public due to the large number of restaurants and other shops. Within a half mile there are at least 15-20 restaurants about a dozen or more right on the street from very cheap student hang outs to fancy restaurants with a variety to suit any taste. So... More
