If you go anywhere in the park, go to the waterfall. It is a bit of a hike but a great cardio workout especially heading back. Gorgeous falls in a tranquil, peaceful setting. You feel like you are in paradise.

The place is very nice and maintained. There are totally five trails. We went on a Sunday evening for one of the trail, which was 2.6 miles stretch up and down. At the top of Mountain the hanging rocks are sitting. The views from top...More

Everyone comes to Hanging Rock to climb the appropriately named Hanging Rock Trail and view Hanging Rock itself. Yes, it's beautiful. I have made this hike several times and I really enjoy it. However, last time I went, I parked near the lake and hiked...More

It is a 2.6 round-trip mile hike up to the top, but we enjoyed it. Miles of other trails are available, leading to waterfalls which, on this day, were unspectacular. Restrooms are available, and there is lots of parking space at the visitor’s center.

I went hiking with my Chihuahua on a Saturday. The park is beautiful. Trails are well maintained and clearly marked. Seemed very isolated at times(good news/band news). Great views , rock formations, beautiful lake, picnic area. Better than I expected

This is my new favorite trail at Hanging Rock State Park. If you do any hiking or exercising on a regular basis, you won't have any trouble hiking this trail. However I would not recommend it for beginners who never exercise or who are recovering...More

Hanging Rock State Park might well be the best all-around park the North Carolina system. It doesn’t boast the highest peak, or the tallest dunes, or a Civil War stronghold, but it’s got just about everything one could want when it comes to outdoor activities,...More

I stayed in Greensboro and drove here (1hr) for a hiking day trip on a Wednesday during mid August. It was not crowded at all. Always plan to visit state and national parks during the week, if possible. I can't get over how many attractions,...More

Hiked to lower cascade falls this afternoon with my wife and 17 yr old son. This is an easy hike if you are in reasonable shape and a beautiful waterfall to view. There were a few families at the falls and some young children playing...More

The rock garden trail is good for kids plus it has a waterfall to view as well. Then drive over to the Tory's den parking lot to see the cave and waterfall which is incredible. There is a bit of elevation but kids can... More

no. I would advise against it. the trails are steep in some areas with lots of roots. if you have a little one, I'd suggest using a wearable baby carrier.
