This is a wonderful place to stop and just admire (and buy) fantastically professional weaving. The section with the scarfs and poncho like tops is just beautiful. If you need woven placemats or napkins or dish towels that are fine quality......stop here. The fine arts gallery upstairs is worth your time. It is fun to go into the back room... More

Take a side-trip from the Blue Ridge Parkway to visit the town of Crossnore. Here you will find the Crossnore School, Chapel, Weaver's Gallery and Blair Fraley Thrift Shop. All are worthwhile. The chapel has a fresco based on the Bible verse "suffer the little children to come unto me." The artist used townspeople and students at Crossnore as models... More

Great place to visit on your trip to the mountains. You can see the weavers in action. It's something to see five looms going at the same time. You can purchase some outstanding scarfs, shawls, blankets and hats. Great place to find gifts for the holidays.

Went with friends to look at the weavers and their works. Beautiful scarves, shawls, and cloths. We also went to the thrift store. Bought a few things at Rock bottom prices. We then walked down to the coffee shop. I believe this is a new addition. There they serve sandwiches, homemade baked goods, along with coffees, teas and soft drinks.... More

If you are in the Banner Elk/ Newland area, take time to visit Crossnore - home of the Crossnore School. The Crossnore Weavers is a lovely stop. The church has a famous frescoe; and their is a quiet labrynth to walk as well

While in Crossnore, visit the weavers gallery and giftshop. Down the hill from there, you can visit the Coffee Shop run by Crossnore students as well as the Blair Fraley thrift shop. All of these enterprises help support the school--founded in 1913 by the Sloops.
