My family and I visited the Lighthouse during the month of Feb., the Lighthouse was closed until end of March. But we all had a enjoyable time walking the grounds, taking pictures of the Lighthouse and surround buildings. The kids liked visiting the gift shop and purchasing some souvenirs. The gift store ladies were very friendly and helpful with any... More

This was alot of fun, and very reasonably priced, to take the walk to the top of the lighthouse. The history here is great, and such a pleasent walk.

A genuine piece of NC history! The spiral staircase to the top may be challenging for some and the view from the old railings at the top a bit scary, it's well worth the ticket cost and time to see the OBX from it's highest perspective. The tour guides in and around the lighthouse are informative and knowledgeable. Take a... More

Such a beautiful lighthouse. Unfortunately, we visited in Jan, when grounds were closed, so lighthouse had to be observed from a distance. The boathouse was fascinating with glass bricks, and the wildlife center, which was open, made the trip all worthwhile. Will definately return during warmer months.

Visited in December, but was was closed, and so we had to take a look from outside. However there is not really a good view of it from close by. Don't know how interesting it would be when open, but from outside there are not enough angles to take worthwhile photographs. Not worth a visit if it is not open... More

Lighthouse is closed in January. Grounds are nice and allow for some good pictures of the lighthouse. Property has a nice pier that takes you far into the Sound.

We stopped here on a day trip up the Outer Banks. It was a really pretty stop! We didn't walk up this time, but enjoyed the gift shop in addition to walking around the area. Next time I hope to walk up.

We go to area annually and have been to lighthouse numerous times. Normally a line so maybe get there early or plan ahead with cooler with drinks in your vehicle. Next to the Whalehead club area, down from wild horse museum, normally an ice cream cart outside gate.
