My grandparents both worked at this club "back in the day". They would be thrilled to see that it has been restored to it's former glory.

Toured this gem of a site today. It's a self-guided tour that isn't too long, but informative and wonderful nonetheless. It's amazing to see the foresight that was present while constructing this home. Beautiful inside and out. I'm so glad we visited this stop.

We visited the grounds around the Whalehead in early November. It is a beautiful view of the sound and takes you back to a simpler time, imagining staying here during the heyday of the Whalehead.

I have seen this lovely, historic mansion go from disrepair and abandonment to a jewel filled with the history or a bygone era. Don't miss an opportunity to visit!

Self guided tour. There are 13 stations where you listen to a recording. There are stairs to navigate. $10 to tour. Beautiful place, very interesting. Grounds and views were super. Interesting bit of history to the area.

We stumbled upon the Whalehead Club when visiting the Currituck Lighthouse and visiting it became the highlight of our cloudy, non-beach day. Other than the man on the porch giving you directions for your self-guided tour being just a little too authoritative, this place is...More

We did not tour the club but went back to whalehead just to walk around and take some photos. I love this place for a picnic and for the view.

We had a really nice time at Whalehead. There is a lot of interesting history and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. Some people were walking the grounds with their dogs. The workers said you can make the tour as slow or fast as you want...More

This historic estate has had many lives and the self guided tour you can take tells you about all of it. But the real story is about the Knight family and what can be accomplished with inherited wealth. This home, which is magnificent, sits on...More

It's free to walk the grounds which are beautiful but also worth taking the house tour if time permits. It's educational and fun!

We watched a couple guys catching large blue crabs at the pier while we were walking the grounds! They showed our kids how to measure them. Very interesting!
