My 13 year old and I visited and spent most of the day. It's sort of like a smaller version of the Smithsonian Natural History Museum and Wonder Works mixed together. The ground floor has a couple of neat animal/nature exhibits and a really cool exhibit on nano technology. They had what looked like a nice little café although we... More

My wife and I became season ticket holder for the Charlotte Hornets NBA team this year. We live pretty far away so we always stay at one of the hotels located right near the arena. Having nothing to do this past Saturday morning we went out for a long walk and happened along Discovery Place. We went in and we... More

My (adult) sister and I went to Discovery Place because we wanted to see an IMAX movie and decided to buy the dual ticket. We really enjoyed the science portion and the natural/aquarium section of Discovery Place. The highlight, for us, was the Genghis Khan exhibit which was interactive and over following with artifacts and information and the Mysteries of... More

Being new to Charlotte, My husband and I had driven by the Discovery Place several times, and decided to stop in while walking through Uptown. Even though it appears to be educational for kids, I as an adult had a really good time. I even learned a few things myself.

It's a great museum for young kids. But there's not much there to interest adults or even teens. Maybe one of the traveling exhibits would be interesting but there wasn't one when we visited. Both of us felt we wasted $17 each. The few aquariums they have are pretty but not worth the visit unless you have kids with you.

There was not a lot to do here. I have been to several children's museums that have things for adults, but this one missed the mark. it was also very small and did not have a lot of things that were interesting. The madhouse of kids from field trips also made it a bit noisy. It was EXPENSIVE for what... More

Discovery Place is always a good time for everyone. A place to see kids learn and grow. Usually, have a very good amount of things for all ages. Very interactive. In the past, I know they have had wonderful exhibits pass through the doors. Be sure to plan ahead as when it is very crowded it becomes loud and lose... More
