Love the stars and when you can catch one of their Solstice evening shows, it is a must see! Day shows are mostly for the kiddies, but I caught a summer solstice show in the planetarium and it was wonderful, it detailed what you would be able to see in our quadrant in the sky and when to best see... One of the crown jewels of downtown Chapel Hill. An excellent planetarium with lots of programs. School kids from around the state come here on field trips during the school year. Programs change fairly regularly. Very educational and visually stunning.

Kids enjoyed the Magic Treehouse Space show, more so than they anticipated. The gift shop was very cool also, lots of fun affordable souvenirs.

We visited the Morehead Planetarium with our 3 grandsons - ages 13, 11 & 9 - and all of us were impressed with the exhibits and information we found. There were 2 special exhibits - one on water facts and the other called Grossology. Naturally the 3 boys LOVED the Grossology room with body function information galore. But even with... More

This was a great way to spend a hot, humid summer afternoon while in the Durham area. Their basic exhibits are loaded with amazing photographs and educational facts. The water exhibit is hands-on which children and adults like. The Gross Lab addresses gross things in a humorous and hands-on way. $8.25 for a non-member adult gets you into the gallery... More

I grew up going to the Hayden in NYC...this show was great! I was so excited at the end, tears rolled down my cheeks. The kids' exhibits downstairs are interactive and the Apollo space craft training exhibits are a hoot! We've come a long way, baby. The narrator was really cute in her presentation - well rehearsed, but natural. We... More

We came here with my 9 year old nephew and he really enjoyed it, especially the hands on germ section. The show was extra but the presentation on Carolina skies was excellent and the presenter did a fantastic job. Well worth a visit if you're in the Chapel Hill area.

We accompanied our daughter, son-in-law and three I/2 year old granddaughter to a special Sesame Street planetarium show and found the display cases very interesting, the show child-friendly and the gift shop well-stocked with science themed items. A very enjoyable visit!

We got a very nice presentation there last year when we visited the UNC campus. Very comfortable, very interesting. If they do public shows I would recommend it!

We walked through the upper and lower level of the planetarium which are free. It was an interesting hour. We did not stay for the show which you do have to pay for, but I heard it was great.
