I love the planetarium. This is the first thing I became a member of when I came to Chapel Hill. They have great shows, great people. This building and the vicinity have so much history too! The free exhibitions are very nice but the setup is odd. The Science Center should be developed a bit to become a full blown... More

I love planetariums. When I go, I enjoy looking at displays, learning about the cosmos, and watching a presentation on the planetarium dome that discusses the mysteries of the universe. While the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center DOES have a planetarium dome with movies, visitors need to be aware that this is just about ALL they have. Putting the movies... More

The Morehead Planetarium is a fun and educational place to visit whether you do so as a family trip, school or scout trip or on a date night to do some skywatching or see one of the laser light shows. The facility has a rich history dating back to the late 1940s and is one of the oldest and largest... More

I attended the spring programme of Starry Nights and found the evening both fun and informative. The staff were very knowledgeable and pleasant. The building itself was also very beautiful. I shall try and return for other events.

Very nice planetarium with programs geared toward elementary students. We thoroughly enjoyed the Magic Treehouse film -- especially my 8 year old. The movie on elements of flight was also good. Nice gift shop right in the midst of gorgeous Franklin Street. Well worth the visit!

There are several different shows at the Morehead Planetarium, however I've only gone to the most popular one "Carolina Skies". It really mesmerizing, and awe inspiring to see how immense our universe is and how many trillions of stars and galaxies there are! I was impressed and plan to bring some visitors there soon. .

Beautiful grounds and facility right on UNC campus. The grounds are stunning especially when flowers are in bloom. Lots of history that not many know about such as all the Mercury 7 astronauts trained here for celestial navigation while in space. Some cool stuff in the shop, especially for kids. Make sure and see a presentation in the theater, never... More

The Morehead Planetarium offers a range presentations appropriate for visitors ranging from elementary school to adulthood. There is comfortable seating and student presenters to make your visit enjoyable and informative. I personally found it fascinating to learn that the Morehead Planetarium served as a training ground for more than 60 astronauts serving in the Gemini, Mercury and Apollo space programs.... More

We went for the Jupiter Ball at the Morehead Planetarium so our experience was a bit different than most. However, it still showcased this amazing attraction and is not to be missed! The John Motley Morehead lounge looks fabulous and was a treat to enjoy our gala. The planetarium itself has been well kept up and it is very clean... More
