My husband and I came across this on our walk one morning. I had read about it prior to our visit and decided I wasn't sharing the spot since I had heard there were snakes. My husband convinced me to walk the trail with him....More

The entrance is rather hidden and the trail is difficult to travel unless you have a 4x4. I was disappointed. I tried to hike it but without a map I didn't know where to go. There is some residential traffic on the road.

Wow, this is a very cool place if you are into nature. Also, if you have doggies, take them along! (Watch out for the black snakes tho!). One was curled up along the side of the trail. It darted off as soon as it realized...More

Really, not much here at all. If you are an outdoors type and like to see the flora and fauna of this type of environment then by all means go. It doesn't take long.

Wear good shoes and bring the bug spray. Not a difficult walk and we were the only ones on the trail that afternoon. Saw a tree frog but nothing else living. The signs were helpful and the walk was restful. A nice way to spent...More

A short (3/4 mile) walk, but very pleasant. We saw turtles, snakes and frogs as well as reading the various information boards about the local ecosystem. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Of course we're here in December when a cold front has stopped right on top of the island. That just made us walk faster; good exercise. Would love to see the trail in warmer weather so we could see more wildlife.

Really easy and nice trail. Shaded so it's cooler than being in full sun. Nice interpretive postings along the trail. Great mix of wetlands and pine forest with a large diversity of plant life.

The Buxton Nature Trail near Cape Hatteras Light House is a short walk through woods ,treed and marshes. It is easy to navigate and nice. There are some Picnic Tables at the beginning of Trails if you need. A Good Place to relax

I would say it's pretty safe terrain to ride in, but beware of the ticks & take bug repellant, they were horrible when we were there, we literally had hundreds of them on us when we left the woods, they are very tiny... More
