Explore a real gravitational anomaly at Mystery Hill! Amazing visitors since 1948 visitors receive a quick guided tour of the Mystery Platform where two guest stand on a perfectly level platform but appear to grow and shrink as they switch sides and the Mystery House where the laws of gravity appear to have been forgotten as things roll up hill and visitors experience a strange pull to the North. After the tour guest are invited to stay and experiment as long as they like before moving on to the Hall of Mystery with a series of Optical Illusions and Hands on activities including The Shadow Wall, the Spooky Spigot, The Flying Mirror, and everyone's favorite Bubblerama where you can actually stand inside a giant soap bubble. Visitors also get free admission to visit the Moon and Irene Mullins Arrowhead Collection of over 100,000 arrowheads they collected over their life time and to a walk thru the 1903 Dougherty House the home of the founders of Appalachian State University. Also while at Mystery Hill visitors can buy a bucket and try their hand at Gem Mining at the area's premier gem mine Doc's Rocks and the Appalachian Fossil Museum. Open 7 days a week year round, rain or shine. Mystery Hill is located between Boone and Blowing Rock on Hwy 321.

My kids aren't very little anymore (12 and 16), and we did take them when they were younger, but they wanted to go through again. I would compare this to a fun house with a tour guide. It's fun to try (get a coupon out...More

Love this place... perfect combo of roadside nostalgia with education. Yes it's kitschy and that's why it's wonderful.... Americana at its best. This is what mountain vacations with kids are all about. Make sure to see the gemstone mining place and Native America Indian arrowhead...More

It is an interesting place. It won't take long, but there is enough there to keep occupied for about an hour. It's a great place if you are looking for something to kill a little time or need to take a break. Like the other...More

My family went to mystery hill today and I can't say much or it will ruin the surprise, but for the money about $8 for an adult it's a good fun couple hours spent with the family for one trip. It's kind of a been...More

Wasn't sure what to expect. A few things to note before you go. First, don't bother if you get vertigo. Wish I was warned of this upfront. The moment I stepped into the area that's 'different,' I immediately because nauseous. Second, don't pay full price....More

This place is different. The only real attraction here is the vortex gravity room. Everything else is just tourist stop hokey-fluff. I'm trying to figure out the mystery hill. As an engineer, I feel that the place is nothing more than fancy carpentry work coupled...More

Cool place. Vortex room is pretty freaky and makes you feel a bit off. Decently priced as you can leave and comeback for the entire day. Wife and kids loved it.
