Worth a stop

Great views, pretty flowers, not much walking required. There are much better places to shop in town. $7 adults, $6 seniors, very safe and kid friendly.

We drove 2 hours to see this but the nature trail was like 10 minutes long. hardly a "Hike". Overpriced also.

The family spent a good part of the day at Blowing Rock, easy walk and level trails. The sights from the observation deck are beyond description viewing both Grandfather mountain and Mt. Mitchell off in the distance, Well worth the time.

Blowing Rock is privately owned, not a state park. This doesn't take away from the amazing experience. You enter through a charming home and into a interpretative center with a gift shop. The area is beautifully landscaped, and the catwalk that takes you along the cliffs ledge is really well done. The views of the Blue Ridge Mountains with its... More

If you are looking for hiking trails, this is not the spot for you. The beautiful mountain views are just steps away. You could also seeing these views from numerous places on the blue Ridge Parkway for free. But I think it is definitely worth stopping by.

This is like a miniature Rock City with spectacular views. Price is $8 for adults. Many great photo opportunities. Well kept grounds! A nice stop!

Had the pleasure of spending a long weekend in Blowing Rock, NC and after reading about the town's history and namesake we figured we should visit The Blowing Rock. When we arrived we had expected a beautiful hike so we packed a snack, some water, and laced up our shoes. We entered the visitor center, paid for entrance, and were... More

As the title says, this was a neat, inexpensive stop. There's an interesting Native American legend about the rock that you can read online or there. The views are spectacular! There's also a small ice cream shop. My husband loved climbing on the rocks, and it's safe enough that I let him :). You're not going to fall off the... More

I hadn't been to the blowing rock since I was a small girl and I was excited to return. Admission was $7.00per person and it kept us entertained for less than an hour. The rock itself was easy to climb on for photos and it wasn't too crowded. The observation deck was my favorite because of the great view of... More

We drove the Blue Ridge Parkway and saw beautiful scenery FOR FREE. We could not believe they wanted money to see a natural Rock that we could see from the doorway. We then went to Grandfather Mountain and, equally, could not believe the price of $20 a head to go to the top. How sad. I understand being a non... More
