My daughter had never skied before and we picked App. because it is smaller. She took an hour of private instruction and was able to ski the intermediate slopes straight out of ski school ! My son and I enjoyed all the other slopes while...More

We travel to Boone every winter and I must say Appalachian Ski Mountain is one of the better if not best ski resorts. The process was quick and seamless. Mostly everyone was attentive and nice. Except for Shannon. She was very rude and had a...More

Took Grandchildren to see snow and try their hand at Snowboarding. Boy and Girl, 13 & 14. This is not a Big Mountain and that is why we chose it for first timers. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful. One choice of food,...More

We recently visited with kids. I will say that the place is a gem mainly due to the ski school. We took snowboarding lessons with Wyatt and Tom who are really top notch. By the end of our trip they had us boarding the top...More

Great question! Elk mountain just out of Boone NC has a cross country club and club maintained trails at base of Elk mtn parking area. Also ,as far as solo trails, Moses cone trail in Blowing Rock NC is amazing! Enjoy!
