We visited the museum specifically to see items related to Blackbeard. There were some, but not as much as we had hoped. No pirate treasure. Otherwise it was very good for a fairly small museum.

This is a fantastic museum, especially for it being FREE! The exhibits are really impressive and the staff/volunteers are nothing less than wonderful. Great for people of all ages, and perfect for a very cold/hot or rainy day. Don't forget to walk across the street to the boat house, where you can watch them build boats!

This museum is well curated and offers a wide range of exhibits that would be of interest to both adults and children. Particularly interesting is the Queen Anne's Revenge exhibit which focuses on the history of and artifacts derived from Blackbeard's sunken ship which lives very near Beaufort. The roof of the museum provide to panoramic view of Beaufort and... More

Very modern museum and informative displays. This was an interesting hour spent. If anyone is really interested in mariner history, this could take hours. Nicely done, and a free attraction.

Good mix of permanent exhibits and timely ones, all carefully focused on the museum's mission of presenting NC coastal history. Beautiful setting too. I don't work there, but I am "in the business," so I know quality.

Large maritime museum with outstanding history of life saving stations, graveyard of ships history, world war II and the savage attack on shipping by U boats, Blackbeard and prirate history. Very interesting for those interested in the history of the outer banks.

Outstanding museum with something for all ages. Lots of local and NC history. Be sure to visit the watercraft center across the street. Here you will see volunteers building and repairing some beautiful wooden boats. Both museums are no charge but donations are always appreciated.

I have been here 3 times before and each time they have different things to see. It was awesome to see all the artifacts from the Queen Ann's Revenge, Blackbeards ship. The staff was so friendly and welcoming.
