Took the ferry from Southport, hopped on a golf cart, and took on the Island. The light house was by far the best adventure. We climbed to the top and took the best pictures in the 360 view.

Growing up on Long Island, NY makes it hard to “wow” me with a Lighthouse. Old Baldy was a great trip up 180 steps and the view from the top was spectacular! If you go to Bald Head Island it is definitely a “must see”!

It was unfortunately pouring rain the day we visited the island and lighthouse but it didn't hinder us from seeing the light. The lighthouse did not disappoint. I was even able to get a few good shots from the porch of gift shop. Everyone was...More

We loved the lighthouse! Incredible views when you reach the top of the whole island, but if you are claustrophobic, this is not for you! The lighthouse store was also delightful, filled with unusual nicknacks. I would highly recommend visiting this lighthouse.

The trip to the top was interesting. Near the top was a hand over hand ladder with a small opening at the top. Only for the slim. Nice view of the island, if you can get to the top.

We love lighthouses and have been here several times. The little gift shop is nice but a tight space for many folks. You have to buy your tickets there to climb the lighthouse. We made the trek up the 108 steps. There are resting landings...More

Wish this island had more history sites! There is some great history, as you'll read about in the one room of the lighthouse that has some displays, but it's so limited. But this is a must-see when you visit.

I absolutely adore lighthouses! And Old Baldy was on my list for North Carolina. I have seen all of them now, save for Cape Lookout. Hubby and I took the Bald Island ferry - a nice 20 minute crossing. No cars are allowed on the...More

Absolutely love Old Baldy! The admission was only $6 each to enter the museum and lighthouse. Old Baldy is the oldest lighthouse in NC with an incredible view. The climb up was not too strenous however, I would be very cautious with small children. Highly...More
